Good information, I am subscribing to your channel. I'll pipe up on two points though. The first one is the location of the bathroom, or any fixture, does not determine the location of its VTR. Sewer vent lines can be routed as far as you want, or need, if you size them correctly. "Correctly sized" means one size up from the required size for the load, that allows a vent pipe to extend an unlimited distance as long as the slope is correct the entire way. Never let a plumber install a vent in a prominently visible location because he says it has to be there. It does not. I note the location I want VTRs located on buildings with high slope rooves. I never leave it to the plumber to decide. It is legal to have only one VTR for an entire house as long as every fixture is correctly vented, and that one VTR can be located wherever you choose as long as you size the pipes properly, and insure the slope meets code. As a last resort, an air admittance valve is allowed by the IRC, and that eliminates the need for a VTR at a fixture. The second thing is that most residential supply piping is done today with PEX. In my area, it is almost all done with one brand, AquaPEX. What that means for plans and plumbing design, is that supply pipes get drawn more like wires are on electrical plans. It also means that a designer should acquire, and use, the design manual published by the tubing manufacturer that is used most commonly in your area. That last point is valid because the plumbing IRC code book (at least the year I have) does not provide a sizing chart for PEX, but more specifically, it doesn't provide charts for every brand of PEX. In the end though, AquaPEX sizing is really done to satidfy their strict velocity requirements, which boils the sizing down to a very short list. I actually put that list on every one of my plumbing plans with a note that explains that even though the requirements of meeting the mandatory friction losses are observed, the velocity requirements imposed by AquaPEX are much more stringent, and they are the real determining factor in sizing supply lines. The IRC code book(s) is available in a notated, or "commentary" version. It has helpful explanations that explain the purpose, or intent, of most of the individual codes, and it also explains how to design various systems. It costs more, but it pays for itself. Sizing piping is not hard, but it takes time, and requires some basic understanding of plumbing and the codes regulating it. The municipalities in my area require all mechanical design work to be submitted for code review, and therefore, architects, and designers, are required to submit a full set of plans, even if they use consulting engineers.
