Arată-ți deci bunătatea față de mine pe care mă socotești pierdut și ajută-mă să mă pocăiesc, arătându-mi în ce constă păcatul meu. Și ia aminte că, de fapt, eu n-am vorbit NIMIC de la mine însumi ci, în modul cel mai simplu, am prezentat „facts” - cum se zice în engleză. Acum, deci, e rândul d-tale. Hai, spune, despre care dintre Sfinții Părinți pe care i-am citat eu vrei să spui că ar fi vorbit prostii? Sau vrei să zici că Sfânta Scriptură Ortodoxă ar fi vorbit prostii? Vrei să spui că Sfântul Ioan Gură de Aur a făcut o prostie că el, care avea și părinții și bunicii creștini Ortodocși, s-a botezat la maturitate? Vrei să spui că și celălalt ierarh al Bisericii Ortodoxe Universale din toate veacurile pe care l-am citat eu, Sfântul Vasile cel Mare, și el a vorbit o prostie? Hai, arată-mi și mie care dintre ei a vorbit prostii ca să mă pot îndrepta și eu. Și după aceea tot d-ta ai să spui care dintre noi doi rătăcește și pe alții. Doamne ajută!

This was not because they believed in a so-called "believers baptism." Far from it. The sacramental grace is still applied even in infancy. Basil, Gregory, and Chrysostom all delayed baptism because they believed there was no repentance for carnal sins afterward. Many people in nobility and aristocracy were afforded educations that put them in less than virtuous situations where they might be tempted. Gradually the practice of infant baptism prevailed. It is true that it was not as widespread as it is today, but not for the reasons you indicated.

@@aaronrice2086 To be honest with you I have to admit that I didn’t know these facts that you stated as a supposed reason for the “delayed” baptism of John Chrysostom and the others. However, no matter how many thousands of other, apparently, rational reasons can be brought up by any mortal human being in justifying the twisted Truth of the Eternal God specifically mentioned in His WRITTEN Word, God’s Word IS God’s Word, period! And as I mentioned in the previous message, the Orthodox Study Bible places the Baptism AFTER the repentance and belief - see Mark 1:15 and Mark 16:16. That’s why, the REAL Orthodox Christians followed this order of the three steps and received the Baptism AFTER believing. Question: Do you know any other authority above the God of Heaven - the very Author of His written Word? And if not, who is Basil, Gregory, and Chrysostom, who are you to correct God by reversing His order in terms of baptism? Are we going to be judged according to Basil, Gregory, and Chrysostom and/or you? NO! You know better than that. But Basil, Gregory, and Chrysostom, you and I are going to be judged after Jesus’ words. Jesus Himself informs us this in The Orthodox Study Bible, in John 12:48 by saying “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him - the word that I have spoken will judge him in the las day.” Secondly, if you ONLY dare to change anything in the Bible, sorry, according to the bellow authentic Orthodox document you are in danger of being under the curse of both - the curse of God and the curse of the Forefathers of the TRUE Orthodox Church. Listen, please, to the Encyclical of the Eastern Patriarchs, 1848 A Reply to the Epistle of Pope Pius IX, "to the Easterns", § 20: “§ 20. For our faith, brethren, is not of men nor by man, but by revelation of Jesus Christ, which the divine Apostles preached, the holy Ecumenical Councils confirmed, the greatest and wisest teachers of the world handed down in succession, and the shed blood of the holy martyrs ratified. Let us hold fast to the confession which we have received unadulterated from such men, turning away from every novelty as a suggestion of the devil. He that accepts a novelty reproaches with deficiency the preached Orthodox Faith. But that Faith has long ago been sealed in completeness, not to admit of diminution or increase, or any change whatever; and he who dares to do, or advise, or think of such a thing has already denied the faith of Christ, has already of his own accord been struck with an eternal anathema, for blaspheming the Holy Ghost as not having spoken fully in the Scriptures and through the Ecumenical Councils.
