Japanese tea ceremony in KimonoâThe best experience!âThings to do in Kyoto - Part FourâMark & Sarah
ðJapanese Tea Ceremony in Kimono - Kyoto Adventures Part Four ð
In this vlog, we take part in one of Kyotoâs most traditional and iconic experiences - a Japanese tea ceremony, complete with kimonos! ðĩð
If youâre looking for something cultural and hands-on to do in Kyoto, this oneâs definitely worth it.
We visited Maikoya Kyoto (@kimonoteaceremonykyotomaik1737) for their award-winning tea ceremony experience, where we learned all about the history, tools, and etiquette of this beautiful tradition. Guided by a tea master, we got to observe the delicate steps of making matcha green tea before having a go at making our own - using high-quality matcha powder that tasted amazing.
We take you through the experience of dressing in Kimono, the tea ceremony & enjoying walking round the Gion District.
The staff were super friendly, and the whole experience was as relaxing as it was educational.
ð Hereâs what we got up to:
- Japanese Tea Ceremony- A step-by-step demonstration of the tea-making process, with insights into its history and meaning.
- Wearing Traditional Kimonos - Getting dressed up in beautiful kimonos to make the experience even more special.
- Making Matcha - Learning how to make our own green tea under the guidance of an expert tea master.
- Cultural Insight - Discovering the significance of Kyoto in the tea ceremony tradition.
ðŦ Why Watch?
This oneâs all about slowing down and appreciating the art of the tea ceremony. Itâs a proper cultural experience, and wearing kimonos made it feel even more immersive. If youâre curious about Kyotoâs traditions or just want to see what a tea ceremony is really like, this vlogâs for you.

Nice space and editing!! This is making me excited for my working holiday out there. All the best!
Thank you!! Hope you have a great time as well!
What time did you guys go to Daigo-ji Temple and what day? I am trying to go when it is mostly empty. Thank you!
We went at 9am on a Thursday, so not too early! There was around 10 other people in total when we went. Enjoyððž

A little bit of a late upload this week, we hope you enjoy the vlog! We've just moved to Nozawaonsen to work for the ski season, so everything is super busy but exciting- more to come soon!
Thanks for sharing the video of your trip to Japan. We hope you will visit Japan again. We also post information about Japan on our channel if you want to check it outð
Thank you, we will take a look! Weâre living in Japan for 12 months so hopefully we will see a lot more âšïļ
I wish the second world war would've never happened. All we have now is something that goes back to the times of the Second World war. Cell phones, Computers, Cars, Advanced Building and all other kinds of stuff all have their foundations in the times of horror, fear and arms race. This beautiful city wouldn't be so crowded. Also there would be more remote villages like this.
aye, this is cool. nice editing
Thanks very much!
Missing Kyoto already! Should we go back in I dunnoâĶ maybe 4 days ð

Hello! Where do you find one month apartments like these? Do you have any recommendations for what site to use?âšïļ
Hey! We just used booking.com for this apartment but they have a huge range on there. They also tend to have mobile deals to get discounts and you can book in advance. modernlivingjapan.com is also a great site but most places only let you book 30 days in advance which was too last minute for us, worth a look though! ð
An absolute joy to watch from beginning to end!! âĪâĪâĪïļðŊðĩ
Thank youðŦķðŧðĨ°
Love the editing on the intro/first few minutes. Audio during talking was a little difficult to listen to, perhaps a mic for future videos would go a long way. Keep it up, looking forward to more videos!
Absolutely agree! Thanks so much for the feedback, will definitely look into it.
Really nice video! Looking forward to see more
Thank you!!
