It's What You've All Been Waiting For! Updated Graphic Novel Collection - July 2023
It's time! The yearly collection update has arrived! First things first, VenomHush is no more... welcome to LongBoiComics! Might sound strange but my 6ft4 arse couldn't come up with a better name, so here we are.
Big thank you to all of you that left supportive and positive comments on the previous video, and to those of you encouraging me to make more! I've had some pretty big life changes this past year, what with moving into my own place with my long-time girlfriend and getting our own puppy, so it's been kind of chaotic these past few months but FINALLY, I'm here! Here's hoping we can see each other more often now 😘

As a collector myself i am amazed and i have to steal this video for some comic guidance :D bc in my country we mostly read Italian Comics but DC and Marvel are also available but only most famous and important comics. So i usually buy something from abroad but this video will help me a lot for my choices ! Keep rocking !

I love seeing people's collections, good video. Question: is it worth upgrading from omnibus/paperback to absolute? Why or why not
Thanks man! I only tend to upgrade to absolutes if it's a story I thoroughly enjoy. I don't tend to do it for stories I haven't read unless I find them for a stupidly good price. Also it depends on the artist for me. I'd be more inclined to upgrade to an absolute if it had artwork I know I love and would like to enjoy in its most premium format, like a Jim Lee, a Gary Frank or a Jason Fabok for example
Enjoy your collection when it's in this manageable state. Eventally you will lose an entire room to crates. Eventually you will lose track of the exact content of all those crates which leads to occasional accidental double dipping.
Great to see you back! A year passed and I see lots of new stuff on your shelves. I was wondering what is your opinion on Deathstroke new 52 omnibus. Is it worth buying? Or maybe I should go with the older run like Deathstroke the terminator?
Appreciate you, mate! I found the New 52 Deathstroke enjoyable, but it doesn't contain much in the way of substance. It's more of an over the top, popcorn action film. So my recommendation of it would just depend on how much you like the character. Slade is one of my favourites so I found it a good bit of fun, but there's not much in the way of depth or deep, engaging storylines, but it makes for a fun, 'turn your brain off and just enjoy' type read

Sadly, I did! I needed the funds at the time and I'd fallen behind on the series quite a lot. I enjoyed what I read tho and would love the get my hands on the deluxe editions one day!

Thank you, brother! I tend to order my books off of Books Etc or if I'm pre-ordering, Forbidden Planet. I've ordered a few things from SpeedyHen in the past, and I'll usually keep my eye out for anything I'm interested in on eBay or a graphic novel sales group I'm in on Facebook 👍

@@LongBoiComics Idk I got the first three for my birthday from my grandparents and I’ve seen the hard covers online on Amazon for a reasonable price I don’t know maybe some of them are probably pretty expensive

I haven't started it yet, but once the Secret Warriors omnibus reprint comes out, I'm gonna grab that and have myself a Hickman marathon starting with that, FF, Avengers and ending with his X-Men stuff! What do you think of his run so far?

Still need to pick up the two SHIELD minis for a complete Hickman read through but Secret Warriors is well worth including ahead of Fantastic Four.
Are the Alien and Predator series good? Love the collection as always 👍🏻
As an Alien fan, I've been thoroughly enjoying what I've read so far, but I also haven't ever read any of the older, original Alien comics to compare it to. But I'd recommend checking it out, for sure! I haven't read Predator yet, so I can't comment on that, but I've heard good things.

@davidknox2301 Can't say I have... I've never really been a fan of either of those. I've seen the first season of Stranger Things and the first two modern Star Trek movies, that's the extent of my knowledge for either franchise 😬
You should stick with Stranger Things. Lots of different Star Trek comic runs to get into. I’d also recommend Planet of the Apes from Boom! Look forward to seeing some reviews from you. Did you sell your Power Rangers run?
@davidknox2301 I'll keep those recommendations in mind! I did end up selling Power Rangers, reluctantly. I just fell so behind on it and needed the funds so had to part ways with it. I enjoyed everything I read, but ultimately decided to sell them on. Maybe if the deluxe hardcovers come back into print, I'll go back to it, but for now, they had to Go Go over to eBay and morph into some cash.

The first shelf was from Argos, but I don't recommend that because of the obvious spacing problem I have 🤣 the other two are Billy bookshelves from IKEA

Thanks man! The figurines I got from Eaglemoss and I'm pretty sure there were just called something like 'DC Figurine Collection'. Although their website seems to be down right now, I don't know if they've gone under or if it's just temporary 🙁 you may have luck finding them somewhere else but I'm not sure!
Welcome back! It is so nice to see your collection and hear you of course. I think, a year ago I wrote a comment when you posted a collection video of 2021. Back then I was just starting collecting DC in English, because before I was collecting DC in Polish (which is my mother tongue). Right now I have only one and half of the shelf of graphic novels, but there will be more of them. Thanks to collecting DC in English my skills in English are much better and I have more fun with reading and collecting. You and your videos were one of a few reasons for me to start my DC journey (and maybe Marvel journey, in the future)so thank you for the big inspiration that you gave me.

I usually use Books Etc, Forbidden Planet, Amazon or eBay for most of my book purchases nowadays. I'll either sell on eBay or via Facebook marketplaces. Noted on the Insta/Twitter idea, thanks!
