This is how Nightwish established their exceptional status. This combination of melodic metal and classical mezzo-soprano was unusual and new, fascinating and inspiring at that time. Nightwish became uninteresting (at least for me) when Tarja was more and more pressured to sound like any random pop singer. I found Nemo boring and don't care about the records with Anette and Floor. (Nothing against Floor, she's great! But she's wasting her talent with Nightwish. In my opinion, After Forever was better than anything Nightwish did without Tarja.)

No offence intended to Anette, but she just doesnt compair to Floor, or Tarja for that matter. I get why Nightwish took her on after Tarja, but her voice just doesnt suit the band at all. The Anette era came out with some brilliant songs, but Floor truely brought them to life. Listening to Anette and floor side by side, there is no comparison. I feel sorry for Anette in many ways, she gets alot of stick, but simple fact of the matter is that her voice and singing style was never going to work with the epicness of Nightwish.

I watched this live numerous times when I was a kid. Hearing this now feels as if it's trying to scratch the itch that can't be scratched. Some strange nostalgic and mystical feeling...not too far from what the lyrics are about, just more personal I guess. A fine example that a cover can indeed be as good as, or even better than the original. 🌙
