Lions can be challenging to paint. Full disclosure: I am not a wildlife artist. But I have been painting portraits for over 30 years, and in this video, I'll show you how I approach painting details on a lion using the acrylic glazing technique. However, this is not a traditional painting of a lion in it's native setting. Rather, if you've been following this series, you know that it's a narrative depiction of a lion and a solider conveying the idea of trusting in Jesus as He fights our battles.
Primarily, I'll show you how to do highlights using vibrant colors like Indian yellow and organic orange, mixing paint and medium, brush control, and some tips to make your painting pop!
