Diagnosing the NES Green Screen - Need to Up My Tetris Game
Picked up a Nintendo Entertainment System at my local game store, Vidiots. They sold it for a dirt cheap $55 with the disclaimer that it may not work. It doesn't, so let's fix it! Can we get something other than a green screen?

    Cant thank you enough for this video. My action buttons were not working and I was extremely hesitant to open my steam deck. I followed these instructions and saw that one of the cables was loose. It's all better now! Thank you!

      @@cagethelonewolf It’s just a thorough video man not everyone are experts at modding their devices. I think is completely necessary for those who are new to owning steam deck and to learn their devices. And if you’re talking about overall of the steam deck design and why is it hassle to mod it then I would understand why is unnecessary hard for beginners.

    Just had to pull mine apart, I could tell I was inside it before probably over 30 years ago, because some of the screws were not factory seated haha. I scraped of a little corrosion and cleaned it up and seems to be working well again. I wasn't sure if there was a particular known cause other than mis seated cart, but it I guess just giving it some love does the trick.

    I want to replace my dpad button membrane since the up button feels soft, and it would be dumb if i just gave this back to the shop just for unfomcfortable button which is barely noticable but it is if i play rhytm games, so really wanna just replace it myself. Also are the zif connectors fragile?? This is still nerve wrecking to do.

    • @lukecarlson6863
      @lukecarlson6863 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a great question. You can remap in steam, but physically swapping A/B would be great visually. Unfortunately, the current buttons are unique, the A button won't fit in the B hole and vise versa. On Etsy people are selling custom painted PlayStation (XOY🔺) buttons. But I haven't seen any for the switch

  • @nova8747

    Hey man, my Select button randomly sticks, and it’s incredibly annoying. Mind you, it’s not physically stuck down, just the input is stuck, for whatever reason. It unstuck itself once, but recently stuck itself down again. I know this is a bit of a longshot, but I cannot find ANY information on this issue on the entire internet, as if I’m the only person who’s encountered this. Do you have any ideas what could be the cause?

    • @Chris-uq4bn

      Perhaps the rubber backing is broken. This is a complete guess but I suggest replacing the button out right.

    • @nova8747
      @nova8747 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Chris-uq4bn Been a hot minute since I posted that, but I ended up fixing it the next day after pulling it apart. Turns out the rubber piece was put in at an awkward angle from factory, simply taking it out and putting it back in right fixed the issue and it was flawless until I upgraded to the OLED. Cheers for the answer tho.

      @@nova8747 yeah my button broke and my trigger broke couldn’t be bothered to buy a new trigger. So I replaced the old trigger spring with a pen spring cut in half worked wonders a little bit more stronger then original but she’s working and saved me $30. Any ideas on how to fix the ribbion cable for the right de pad it seemed to have ripped off. The ribbon cable is fine and so is the connection but the black holder clamp thing broke off. Should I try hot glueing it in place I tried scotch tape didn’t work at all. I have no idea how to fix it without re wondering the board.

      @@Chris-uq4bn Would advise heavily against glueing anything. Yeah, that's a big issue, ripping off the ribbon cable clamp, and one I'm not sure on how to suggest fixing, outside of getting a replacement board.

    Wow I didn't know ifixit made a monster kit like this. I got to have this, now! Hey those tweezers are probably ceramic tips. I have a pair and 1 thing you aren't thinking about on those is they are great for applications needing nonconductive contact. Such as a device on or has a charge and touching positive components.
