The Shift Every Decade (Bob Gal interview)
Sidewalk Skyline Podcast
www.sidewalkskylinepodcast.com
Season 5, Episode 22
Bob Gal has been an iconic figure in my life for 40 years. From my first recollections of his speaking at youth retreats and leading street ministry outreaches, he has been a man that has followed the cloud by day and fire by night.
He and his lifelong sweetheart Karen live in Edmonton, Alberta where he serves as our oldest Mission Canada urban worker at the age of 74. Today I want to hear Bob’s reflections as we review his relationship with Jesus and the nuanced perspective shifts for each decade.

The process, is what your talking about, i learned this in conquers group..Change the tapes..refresh, renew, whats next, moving forward..
At sixty seven years old now this man has been an amazing find in trying to unravel my life.
Yes, he's the real deal
One thing that was maybe touched on but very briefly is how Vancouver Chinese Church had a culture and a want to change from that to adhere to the community or neighbourhood. However, I am curious when speaking of culture, would the church be leaning towards communism over democracy? Does that have a factor? Cheers!
Thanks Mike. The culture, and the goal of the culture, is to be a Jesus culture. As we see in the Book of Acts, the Church community was not communist or democratic as much as Ekklesia. The importance of ekklesia was to invite culture to a better culture - practising the way of Jesus - in unity and oneness. With VCPC moving to HOME Church, the goal was not change but a move to oneness, unity, and ekklesia to the culture (neighbourhood) around them. Hope this helps. Gods best, man!
Beautiful life story to inspire ppl that sorrows can be overcome and true joy is possible!
