You know what, I was at this and it was mad. But I do think this rapidly ushered in the end for the scene at the time, it was just so big and went on for days there was no way the establishment was going to let us get away with this and carry on, they must have been thinking right that’s, they are taking the p1ss now and we’re going to put the kibosh on it. It was coming on top anyway - but I wonder if without this we could have carried on for quite a few more summers more - it also kicked off the Criminal Justice Act. I dunno but I do think it was a case of shooting yourself in the foot, we all went back to smaller parties, keep it up underground.

It was just before the 1992 election, I think it was allowed to go ahead to create a panic and increase the Tory Vote. Ooops

having turned up to sodbury common for the avon free festival, we were told by the police that if we put up even a tent we'd be arrested. Then they told us to go north to castlemorton! some say it was deliberate, so as to give an excuse for the repression later....

@@robinbennett3531 yes - I hear that, it's standard operating procedure- create and allow something like it, make sure all the press and tv are all over it and then in come new sweeping repressive laws to save the public from 'this menace'. I lived less than a mile away from the big Sunrise Acid house rave that was at white Waltham airfield in 1989 - I didn't go as I was 14, but I watched the lights and lasers in the sky and so did my mum and dad. Nobody really gave a toss, nobody I knew cared - loads of cars turned up, there was lights and u could hear the bass then everyone went home, there was less trouble than a night after the pub. But the press went mental and printed a whole load of nonsense- about dead pigeons and ecstasy 'wrappers' 😆it was all lies and completely manufactured to create outrage that wasn't didn't exist. My old man was mates with the guy who owned the airfield and he was well pleased as he got paid a huge amount of money for it and it was the easiest money he ever aren't- he was buying everyone drinks at the pub!

Spiral tribe had a wee fence around their ‘area’ .. pretty weird as totally opposite vibe from what free festivals were about! As I understand it, the original spirals were in Germany with the mutoids. Liberator played in the stripy tent! Main problem was ravers didn’t know how to dig holes to crap in. So there was crap and toilet roll all down the bank. We cleared up cans and rubbish but obviously weren’t going to pick up crap!! We told as many as we could to ‘ go to a truck and ask for a spade !’ Plus the ravers were tagging the dry stone walls and shit. Oh, that and the noise! 1st big night beautiful crack of lightning to start the Saturday night? I think ❤

I was part of the lucky lucky bastards club who witnessed this experience. TRAVELLING TRAVELLERS TRANCE-VERSING And the reversing of SPIRAL TRIBE'S conviction was something else. Game changing isn't a term to describe this. Rather an epic sonic and social political underground under mining force that still is unstoppable. SPIRAL TRIBE brought out a record that stated YOU MAY STOP THE PARTY BUT YOU CAN'T STOP THE FUTURE!!! That was late 92 early 1993 I think. But LOOK now today. SPIRAL TRIBE'S statement NOW has a REMIX! WE NOW CAN STOP THE (TORY) PARTY AND LOOK TO THE PHUTURE!!! 23 303 DOGS ON STRINGS PLAYING VIOLINS WITHOUT VIOLENCE. Now INCREASE that PEACE ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

The stripy marquee is circus warp. I dj'd for them. Before the criminal justice bill came in,they used this party to push it through. Things were different after castle morton and leichlade.

Wow! Thank you for your testimony. Found you first through your Castlemorton video. I recently came to faith 2 years ago so much more recent than you. However some of what you said reminded me that even when I wasn't a believer, there were moments of crisis in my life where I called out to God for help and He came through for me saving my life more than once. I was also a drug addict and dealer of weed when I was younger and I had a severe problem with rage, I absolutely hated everybody. Severe depression plagued me for a lot of my life with several breakdowns and it's a miracle from God that I'm still here. Unfortunately I wasted a good 30 years of my life letting this rage dictate my life and relationships and only wish I had allowed God to turn my heart of stone into one of flesh much earlier. Now I am in a much better place but still have a way to go. Apologies for some of the language I used in my post on the Castlemorton video.

No worries mate. I'm glad you enjoyed both videos. I like to think that nothing in life is ever wasted, as life goes on for a very long time after this whirlwind experience. I have come to find Jesus best in the darkest places of the past, he reinterprets those times and brings new life, understanding and hope from pain and suffering. Ressurection is ours. Faith, Hope & Love. In JC.

I was there too mate, one of the most mental parties I've been to. Was at uni about to do my finals. Heard about it so drove up there with a few mates in my car on the Saturday. Parked on a grass verge and we all headed to the Spiral Tribe rig. Got off our faces, danced for hours and hours. Went back to uni and told some other mates how fucking brilliant it was. So of course we headed up back there the next day but this time I was smarter about it and went in a mates car. Got mashed up again and had a great time. I also remember that someone was firing flares up at the police helicopters and just thought they are going to crack down hard on ravers after this and I was proved right later. Also remember it was baking hot and sunny, perfect weather and had a swim in the reservoir above the main site. As we drove back and I was contemplating shit, I've got finals in 3 days hope I'm not too mashed up, the engine in my mates car blew up on M5 back to Bristol. So we called AA to tow us back. While we were waiting we were still off our heads so had the stereo full on and kept on dancing on the hard shoulder. We got basically two reactions; normal people wandering what the fuck are those people doing as they drove past. And then the other was all the ravers heading back beeping their horns at us and shouting 'rave on'. So glad you and I and thousands of others got to have that experience, it will never be repeated as we live in such a different age now.
