This is really helpful! Underrated channel!
This channel is an undiscovered treasure. Please don’t stop uploading, I love the Chopin analysis videos, watched all of them a couple times!
I'm lucky to have found this channel. Please continue to upload good videos.
This is where Disney got their intro music right?
What is CT?
It is a common tone diminished seventh chord (in this case it is in second inversion), you can read up on common tone chords, they serve as an embellishing function. It has a common root note with the chord structure to follow, hence common tone chord (CT)
@@GivernyLourensnever in my years of conservatory heard of a CT expresion when analyzing with roman numerals. It's a first for me.
I double checked this CT and it seems that it is a fully diminished seventh common tone quartad in first inversion. The common tone is C which is the seventh of the embellished diminished seventh where the root and the third of the diminished seventh are raised by semitone. The root position would be (d-sharp, f-sharp, a, c); in this case it is in first inversion beginning on the f-sharp
Well that's the thing with diminished chords. No matter the invertion they all sound the same. But my curiosity is on using CT instead of (IV?) . Well I guess is not that important.
👍
somehow, this sounds a bit like Scriabin's first prelude, besides the obvious similarity that both share the same key. Chopin was around 80 years early
And chopins sounds like Bachs..
I love this! Can you do this with some of his nocturnes also?
Cool video !
The sample is Wednesday's Child by The Rippingtons btw
Neat
