How to use your phone to share a whiteboard in Zoom
It can be difficult to communicate ideas in physics and other subjects in real time without the ability to draw and write collaboratively on the same document. Rather than use a computer and webcam, here’s how you can use Zoom on your phone and use your finger to draw and write using Zoom’s whiteboard feature.

It can be hard to communicate physics and other subjects in real time without being able to share sketches or calculations. Here’s a simple way to do it with your phone.
Physics at home: discussing permanent magnets
มุมมอง 254 ปีที่แล้ว
Here I introduce some basics of how magnets work, using discs magnets as models for magnetic atoms.
Dipole field of a magnet with iron filings
มุมมอง 1924 ปีที่แล้ว
An external magnetic field causes iron particles to line up. This can be used to visualize magnetic field lines around a permanent magnet.
Mysteries of fridge magnets
มุมมอง 1.8K4 ปีที่แล้ว
There's more to refrigerator magnets than you might realize. Here we visualize stripe magnetic domains in a polymer magnet, and demonstrate that a consequence of this is that the magnetic field seems to emanate from one surface of the magnet. How can this be, if every magnetic north pole has a corresponding south pole? Physics isn't being broken here - it's an example of a Halbach array, as dis...
Making iron filings to visualize magnetic fields.
มุมมอง 10K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Here I show how to make iron filings using a nail, a file, and a drill. Then we use the iron filings to visualize some magnetic fields.
Iron filings under a microscope

Playing with iron filings under a microscope while moving a fridge magnet.
Physics at home: magnets
มุมมอง 304 ปีที่แล้ว
Magnetism is a fascinating subject, and much can be learned by simply playing with magnets. Here I demonstrate breaking up permanent magnets into smaller ones, and discuss how ferrous objects like nails can become magnets. Permanent magnets and the things they stick to - like the nails shown here - are composed of magnetic atoms that align themselves into "neighborhoods", or "domains". Iron is ...
Electrostatics of Death Star tractor beam

This is a video of the after-class discussion in PHYS 253, which is being conducted all online due to the COVID19 pandemic. We spend class time working interactively on physics exercises, and then when class ends I sometimes hang around a little bit to answer questions or discuss wider physics. On May the Fourth, Star Wars day, no students brought up any questions, so I decided to come up with ...
PHYS 251: How to find the range of a projectile launched on an incline.
มุมมอง 865 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a walk-through where we figure out the hang time and range of an arrow launched on a hill. Here I am testing out a light board built by Dean Walton in the UO Science Library.

How to make Google Carboard VR goggles using a View-Master
มุมมอง 27K10 ปีที่แล้ว
Google has made an open source VR kit available that can be used to make head-tracking VR goggles out of your smartphone. However, the lenses can be difficult to acquire. Here I explain how to make VR goggles for your Android phone using a View-Master 3D viewer (stereoscope).
PHYS 251: How to find stretch of a spring with a hanging mass, in a moving elevator
มุมมอง 2.5K11 ปีที่แล้ว
I realize this is difficult to view on account of the camera going in and out of focus. This particular camera does not work nice with OS X, and I cannot turn off autofocus. Future videos won't have this problem if I can make them in my office.

also, im sure there is a scientific explanation for this, but why did the iron turn black when you grinded it up?
great vid, but u scared the hell out of me when the nail detached from the drill and u picked it up. My brain was like NO, ITS HOT, but i guess i was wrong LOL
You can also use it to make magnetic slime.
Hey, great video ! Can you please telll me the reference of your polymer sheet ? I'd like to buy some for a demo with a class. Thanks a lot !
Wondered about this my whole life. Thank you!
Thx
amazing what people will to save materials
Then put 1875 >15 amp less line lost ask why all at once
Thanks for the video, I was just wondering about this.
Grinder?
I had just noticed that refrigerator magnets are directional, and found this explaining why. Thanks!
Hello, we saw your video, liked it and subscribed to your channel. We are also fascinated by the 3D-VIEW-MASTER and Stereography. We read the texts on our channel to the reels.
My iron fillings that i made at home are dirty from the dirt but idk how to clean it
Thank you sir, just what I was looking for
5:22 can I find the magnitude or the length of each vector and add them up?
thank you!!
people are soo much filled of hate you guys are losers! AMAZING video keep it up...Iwas looking for this couldnt find it anywhere
I am almost positive that this is my old math teacher Mr. Prinz
Dude, you are showing somebody how to slice their thumb wide ass open !
Great content, but please focus your camera properly its giving me a headache
Thank you so much. I had bits and bites of it but not all together. Was very confusing. Now piece of cake!!!!
Where can I buy a view master
I always find tons of view masters at flea markets, keep an eye out and good luck!
carefully cut towards yourself... yeah...
it should fit iphone4 for this red viewmaster.
Man get a better camera that can focus.
sinThetacosTheta = ay*dx/2vi^2 at the end. You completely forgot to square the initial velocity at the end of the problem
+greg androsuik dx is no longer squared as well. Is this simply a misunderstanding on my part? Why are they no longer squared?
+greg androsuik Goddammit, he corrected himself
Freking easy
they more dyi videos on viewmaster they should try different models put it on youtube.
that perfect fit was phenomenal
Thanks for sharing this. I had an old View-Master that my kids had ruined by letting the switch snap back and now I can use it with my phone.
Lol
thanks for the tutorial. i found it easy to attach to a selfie stick with a rubber band
Brilliant improvisation, mate!
I got one for free at version it was a custom star wars one
se ve borroso
Kristy Barrera Quítale los lentesque tiene el visor
I recommend a feature called focus lock.
Now there's an official one!
You magnificent beast! Thank you so much! I was working on a problem exactly like this (canon instead of hose), and was having so much trouble. This was exactly what I was looking for.
thanks that was helpful
Why at 7:36 do you change it to -1/2gt^2, while in the equation above it is +1/2at^2?
+Jessie Boucher because acceleration in the y axis is equivalent to gravity.
Thank you so much!!
Thanks so much for this video. I just received a physics investigation and this is exactly what I need. I couldn't find anything like it that explains it so well. I will make sure my classmates are aware of this video.
Theres 2 angles.. show how you got the other angle value.
GREAT!!!
I had this thought too, time to hit up the thrift store! The Part where you bust out the exacto knife is kinda frightening...always cut away from yourself
Let the boy do whatever he wants if he has to go to the hospital his fault it a life lesson....... XD
much of video completely out of focus
Thank you sir. You saved us a lot of time. Thank you.
Professor McMorran! First of all, thank you for even attempting to do this. I suspect you are not required by the University to put videos on TH-cam of you solving homework problems, so good on ya for doing it. You deserve kudos for the extra effort. Having said that... Is there a manual focus mode on your camera?? I almost puked while watching you solve the problem. The autofocus does not like physics, apparently. Clear! (physics physics) BLURRY(..?) Clear! (physics physics) BLURRY...
Dat ladder!
