Do Not Buy these DuraMax Generators, there junk won’t run half the time, back fires bad. When they work there strong. I have the exact same one starts and turns off after applying any kind of load. Brought it to Duro Max Repair center and according to them they’re junk. They said a lot want even start out of the box. Show up with missing parts and could take several months to get parts. I was so proud of this purchase, this was not commits I wanted to hear after paying 1800.00 for this. 204hrs only 2yrs old running off 200 gal propane. Still waiting too hear from repair shop.

I agree with all you found. There were 2 smaller washers for the axle that go on before the nut. They really need to update the assembly instructions and put a good video out on it. It is annoying to look at the instructions and not get the right information. Ratcheting wrenches help if you have them.

Threw a set of these on my 650 touring and they're a huge help when I need to look around my cargo box. I think the only difference I did with my install was pitch the brackets forward to help clear the wiring harnesses a little better.

I purchased the same reel (brand new through amazon) but model #5000 which is a little smaller. It arrived today. The handle was not turning smoothly on both the reverse or regular reeling. The anti reverse button was not working. Lastly to my surprise I found rust in the interior when I removed the spool. I have sent it back asked for a replacement reel. I am hoping the one they sent me was a mistake or my thinking is they may have sent me one that was previously used, returned, and then started rusting.

Sorry to hear about your heart so glad you are doing better. I have afib myself. I have the same unit but thankfully we haven't had any outages to deal with. Generator is just peace of mind. I'm having an electrician come by in the next few days to install an inlet box and an interlock kit

hello, i'm from france so sorry for my english . did you open this reel because me i did it . and i found inside not the same mechanism , not the same gear pinion , a plastic anti-reverse ball bearing , and only 4 ball bearing for all , normally 11 as the description in there announce !! so a very big junk and as usual very big chinese crook ? they always trying to scame us !! why ? it's their philosophy certainly

I have the similar reel in 4000 size. Works fine and wasn't overly expensive even by Australian standards where we're often ripped off. I did however buy a 3000 size Yoshikawa spinning reel which didn't work. Turned out the main drive gear was in a dozen pieces. Luckily I got my money back and the reel now sits in a drawer. I note comments below about most reels being made in China now. Recently I visited a French site which sells among other things, Mitchell reels. Apparently they too are made in China, and I found a Balzer reel on Ali Baba. I find it a bit annoying for the Chinese to "borrow" Western and Japanese names for their products, although we can't do anything about US and European "big name" manufacturers having the Chinese build their products. One thing though is not to be impressed by the ballbearing count on a spinning reel. It means nothing, especially if the bearings are garbage. Four to six good ones is all that's required.

This reel will hold up like the packaging little bits of foam😂😂😂😂 just wait till you run that bitch in the salt. Mine lasted one trip next day it was almost froze up. On the way home i could almost hear it rusting in the back seat 😂😂😂😂😂😤😤😤

I owned one a few years ago and for the money you can't go wrong. BTW almost every reel you buy now is made in China. Just picked up a Abu Garcia 6500, made in China. Why pay a premium price for made in China when you can just buy an of brand like yoshikawa for a lot less.

Ordered my first baitrunner too after watching plenty of reviews of them, but I myself got the Sougayilang 5.2:1 11+1BB KM60 (6000 Series). Wondering how much the second drag will be on that one tho. Cheers and happy fishing!

Hope this reel holds up for ya as you continue to use it. Just something I wanted to point out as far as the bail being difficult to click over during the reel, your better off to get into the habit of smacking it over with your hand rather then trying to reel it closed. This goes for high end quality reels as well. You'll save the bail spring inside and get a longer life from it. Also reeling it over to close will cause line twist over time, making your line twist up when slack. You may have already known this but thought I'd throw it in just in case you wasn't aware. I just bought a Chinese bait runner as well, just a different brand. Hoping it stands up to the test of time. Gotta get through the winter months before I get to put it to use. Tight lines, friend!

Did you end up using it? How did it go? I just picked one up on Amazon for about the same price and am headed to the Gulf of Mexico just in time to greet Hurricane Irma. I hope this reel can handle some armature surf fishing provided Irma does not chase us back home. I’ll let you know how it goes….if it goes.
