    I put a half inch side pitch in my thumb hole. What I wonder is if this makes the track roll over the thumb hole. It is a very comfortable fit since your thumb naturally pitches out.

    Here is two keys to focus on while working on your slide into line, first is upper body force, use half the effort to start then work your way to 75%, second is knee flexion off and on the lane, strengthen your lower body lunges are very helpful standing squats with no weight etc... You have to clean up the upper body forces so you can learn to use your lower body to guide you into the slide. Heel toe drills at home work well while bending at the knees, stay tall three steps then flex knees down about 2 inches to start for 8 steps all heel to toe do it for five minutes twice a day for one month and believe me you will notice a difference. Have fun.

My right hip would finish leading as my ball released and my right foot follows. Now for bowling. I'm stopping myself cant seem to get it behind me to the side. I've tried everything. • @xDrGeek
      @xDrGeek 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If you need to 'hold the towel' (with other hand) @ 4:00 you are still winging it.. still getting to much around the ball, also keep in mind that you are doing a no step drill so you will always have more rev than speed. So when even a plastic ball hits the dry due to the up the side of the ball motion you have with your hand it will cut left. So this is why you need to know where your elbow is, your index/pinky finger.. as well as how cupped your wrist is..

      @@InsideTheLanes my suggestion is that you try skittles bowling because the ball weight is about 6 lbs, it's way smaller than ball than you use for 10 pin bowling and you don't have holes on the ball so you have to play it without chicken winging it unless you want to drop the ball on your toes and your aim will be bad, it will also help you with aiming and might improve your hooks. There is a match between Daria Pajak and colobian girl Josefina i think on youtube so i suggest you check it out because like me Daria Pajak has background in german bowling too so i sugget you observe how she releases ball on balling lane and you'll see what kind of effect german bowling has on 10 pin bowling because after all german bowling also known as kegeln is progenitor of 10 pin bowling. You don't think about chicken winging after 120 shots per game, 6lbs isn't much but throwing it 120 times within an hour isn't easy.

    This was a great tip back YEARS ago when shoulders stayed fairly "square" to the foul line, but with todays modern game (created by reactive bowling balls) the shoulders open way to much for this tip to work. The "elbow to the rib cage" or "lead with the ring finger" are much more practical ways of working on this issue.

  • @rhegafd
    @rhegafd 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

    a tip if you're looking for them, you seem to fall to the right after your release which is caused by having your head too far over your toes. This also causes you to have to work a lot harder to add revs bc your hand is so far on top of the ball. If you work on sitting back, chest and head, you will find its a lot easier to stay under the ball at release, get revs and throw the ball out to the right. Im currently working on this which is probably why it was so apparent. Good video.

    • @mikeward2922
      @mikeward2922 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      so, you're saying, the 'sitting back' is a balance issue and that being a bit more upright will help get behind the ball?

    • @rhegafd
      @rhegafd 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@mikeward2922 Yes, the further behind the ball you can be (the more upright usually) the easier it is for your hand to be behind and under the ball. If you get over your toes, your wrist gets over the top of the ball which makes it next to impossible to get under the ball (unless you are extremely flexible and strong as an ox) Im a relatively high rev bowler and when I get ahead of my self, my arm and wrist get more vertical and I lose revs and action on the ball bc the only way you can get any type of revolutions is to release from 3 o clock to 9 o clock which is not good (side ways spin) Its very similar to a golf swing. When you get super over the ball, you cant cast your hands at the ground, which makes it hard to trap the ball, make a good divot, hit through the ball. Something I really like doing is watching the video compilations of pro bowlers releases in slow motion. If you watch, youll notice they are all well behind the ball and release which allows for much more wrist, snappy, more yoyo release.

    I am 68, right handed, and have been bowling for 45 years. I have thought about this problem over the years because in the early 1980s there was a guy named Paul on our league. He was the type that would kick the ball return. One night he went into the bathroom, punched the towel dispenser, and broke his wrist. So he changed to left handed until the next season. Similarly there is a really good bowler on my current league (230s) who got shoulder surgery. During recuperation he bowled with his left hand and his right arm in a sling and he was still really good. On the other hand there are non-young bowlers on my league who have successfully changed to two-handed. So my theory on the matter of changing hands is if you are permanently changing I would move to two-handed. But if it is temporary I would change to left-handed.

    Throwing the ball directly into the right gutter, followed by "WTF was that!". That reminds so much of when I first switched to lefty. lol Slow down, calm down with the backswing, and don't try to rip on the ball so much. You're not in a terrible position to start, and your timing is pretty good. Your throw falls apart with the huge backswing. Right now your biggest problem is that you're just wailing on your down swing, and because your back swing is so long, you're hitting on the ball and getting around the side of it half way through the downswing, instead doing it at the release point. So I suggest you work on keeping your swing as short as possible... and when it feels short enough, make it shorter. Your backswing is always higher than it feels. Even if you quit helping as the ball passes your knee, the ball will still get plenty high enough. Shorter swing will help prevent you from hitting on the ball so early. I'd also dial back the release from a 10 to about a 5 or 6. The shorter swing, plus a more relaxed release, will go a long way to making you more accurate, and have a more consistent release.

    Looking better than the first video!. Still looks like you're trying to muscle it with the arm instead of wrist. I remember back in the day I had a coach show me the 'shaking hand' release and let the ball do the hooking. I'd slow down the approach, let the ball swing all the way down and just use the wrist, releasing w/ the hand shake if that makes sense. Practice at the line and let the ball just release normal, slowly, and let it hook, then after a while, I think the twisting or muscling of the ball will go. Just an idea, but you know I've commented on your other videos too. lol Keep up the great practice!

    If I were you, I would not "rip through it more" .. If you watch the release of the best pro's in the world, they are very much up the back of the ball, not around it. They keep their hand on the inside of the ball throughout the swing and into the release. I think you should stick with what your left hand is naturally trying to do already and just refine it. I have been working very hard to keep my hand (and elbow) on the inside of the ball. As I have been getting better at doing it, my consistency, my ball speed, my rev-rate, my scores, have all been increasing tremendously. I believe getting "around" the ball (as you call it, "ripping it through") is a bad thing, especially for anyone who has any significant ball speed at all. Women and elderly get around the ball because that is the only way they can get hook at all. You definitely have an elbow bend for your release (a touch too much in my opinion) so it is evident to me that (a) you have speed, and (b) you can easily generate rev-rate. Learn to use that rev-rate properly as you re-learn to bowl left handed. Get your index finger pointed to the floor and hand behind the ball at release. I think you may find you will be a better left handed bowler than you were right handed even. Just my 2 cents .. I wish you well and hope you are able to really perfect the left handed bowling!

    Yikes! .. I can't imagine trying to learn to bowl left handed. I can't do much of anything with my left hand. If I were doing that, they would have to pass around protective gear for anyone near me as we would not know where my balls would be going. Would be a dangerous situation .. 🤣🤣.. Good luck man! .. I just made this switch, might be temp, might be perm. After about 12 league games im sitting at about a 150 average from a 220. My ball roll looks amazing but im still working on footing. The biggest problem is you develop all that strength when you're young and like 100lbs. Now I'm 280lbs at 6'2 and im putting a lot on my right knee. It's more of a mental challenge than anything. You have to ask yourself how much you love bowling to commit to it. The only advice given to me --- get a 13lb plastic ball and use that for awhile to gain mastery of the release and timing without having to feel like you're hurling a boulder.

    Great video! Coming along pretty good being a lefty . Seemed like you were getting the hang of it as the games go by. I know methods vary from bowler to bowler. For me I have had back issues since I was a teen, and could never really bend over to roll the ball. So I usually lofted it a few feet to get it out there and get it to hook. Watching your technique, it seemed like grip could be an issue? I saw several times where as the ball was on the downswing, it seemed like you double/triple bounced it. Example at 4:02 you threw it out and it came back great. Next shot it seems like the ball fell off the thumb early and it bounced. That's the only thing that stuck out for me. I think the more games you have under your belt, the better it'll become overall. You'll top 150 in no time.

      @mperry0913 I definitely chicken winged alot of shots. That comes with uncomfortability and lack of strength.. I wont let this be a set back. I will look at it and learn from it! Thank you for your comment!

    I spent 7 years away from bowling due to injuries to my knees, back, and hips. I was walking with a cane at 43 years old. I went on a personal mission to fix what doctors said could not be fixed. I started stretching for 3-4 hours a day, dialed in my nutrition like never before, strength training, and cardio every day. I worked my tail off and am now not only bowling better than I ever have, but I also am in the best shape of my life at 50 years old. The human body can do miraculous things. Doctors can be wrong often. They also have a monetary reason to keep you coming back to them. I did what they said could not be done, and I did it without them. Instead of telling yourself what you can't do, start believing in what you can do.

    I switched to lefty for a while to teach myself how to bowl 2h without the 1h muscle memory fighting back Took several months to even get up in the 160 range, and spares were a big challenge. From my experience, the hardest part is patience. Giving yourself the long runway to remember that you're effectively relearning how to bowl and not getting upset about how good you used to be
