    Does this work for stainless steel items?

    • @edc.kansan
      @edc.kansan หลายเดือนก่อน

      It would not. The idea for this technique is to tarnish the metal. The nature of stainless steel is to not tarnish. However, if it did start to tarnish, it would just rust.

    Soak that SAK in very hot water for five or six minutes so you can reuse those scales heating up the celidore is more plysble less likely to break ! Brasso cleans brass better than anything !

    so what does the salt do?

    • @lostcat9lives322
      @lostcat9lives322 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The salt is a catalyst for oxidation.

    You need an alkaline to neutralize acid like baking soda or purple power degreaser.

      This is the Reylight Pineapple Mini in brass. It was available on Amazon for awhile but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Unfortunately, I think this guy may be a bit hard to find now

    is the angle adjustable, like is it only 25 degrees perside or can you change it to like 15 degrees

    • @edc.kansan
      @edc.kansan 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not adjustable. That's a downside, but speed is what you get in return

    Can you do this also in copper?

    • @edc.kansan
      @edc.kansan 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Brass is a combination of copper and zinc, and the copper is what causes the patina. You should be able to do this same thing with copper, but the effect will take faster than brass.

    I would like to see more patina, because I'm looking to darken brass hardware like buckles. Can you expand on the aging of brass?

    • @edc.kansan
      @edc.kansan ปีที่แล้ว

      The longer you leave it in the "chamber" the stronger the patina will look. I only took mine out because I wanted to get it started and let it happen naturally after that. It's much darker now.

  • @thisaccountisntreal107
    @thisaccountisntreal107 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question; is there a way for me to use tape or wax or something to patina all of a piece but leave out a small symbol of cleaner looking brass? And then clear coat the whole thing to get something like a patina'd blade with a little star on it ?

    • @edc.kansan
      @edc.kansan ปีที่แล้ว

      I bet that would work, because it takes effect from the air making contact with the piece. If you cover part of it up, you'd probably be able to get that mark!

    Lol my brass looks like that after one day of using a flashlight

    • @edc.kansan
      @edc.kansan ปีที่แล้ว

      It had a clear coat over it that protected it from getting a patina. I stripped that before doing this so it would be able to take effect well.

    • @TheBootyWrangler
      @TheBootyWrangler ปีที่แล้ว

      @@edc.kansan ah, I haven’t ever had this specific flashlight so I did not know it came with a clear coat. What an odd thing to do to an edc flash light (clear coat it from the factory that is)

    • @edc.kansan
      @edc.kansan 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheBootyWrangler I totally agree. I was wondering why it was taking soooo long to patina, then I realized it was probably never going to without me stripping it.

    If you have sown tweezers with thin tips it's possible to remove all the electrical elements. That's why Iobe the reylights. So if want to force the patina the way hard way it's possible to do that too without affecting the electric parts. Thats a good thing if you have one in titanium for example and want to anodize it. Only downside for me is the clip. Would be cool to have it in same material

    • @edc.kansan
      @edc.kansan ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm pretty happy with what I ended up with. I like the contrast of the clip with the natural brass
