Brayden Meng - Psithurism (performed by Zeke Sokoloff)
The title, Psithurism, means the sound of wind blowing through trees and their leaves. The concept was inspired by my time in Woodstock, New York summer of 2024, where I attended the Byrdcliffe Guild residency as a composer. Spending time in the beautiful forests and mountains away from the busy streets of city life seemed almost surreal after so long, which awakened within me a desire to capture the natural music of nature and set it through a surreal lens. While strange and somewhat unfamiliar just as nature is, there is a unique beauty within that the piece strives to highlight. It is often overlooked, but is and has always been there, much like the bustling of a busy street. Or the sound of wind through the leaves.
Enjoy!

Hello, and thanks for checking out my video! This is an original piano composition I wrote for a collaboration with the pianist Jon Lee, and was modeled on the 5th Bagatelle from Beethoven's set of six. In this piece, I tried to capture a kaleidoscope of colors similar to the scene outside the performance hall in this video; cars passing by, people walking and talking, the city experience. Enjo...
