@@axelbarry3552 ya exactly. There’s a point where the staff has to say “this isn’t working” and adapt to the players. I love a hard book but when it’s not being executed and is basically unreadable with only a few weeks left, something has to give.

I think they over estimated the players ability with the book. I’ve been getting hate for saying this but they’re too dirty for a world class line especially BD almost in August.

Yep a lot of these guys on the drum line are just beginning as part of the World Class Drum and Bugle Corp of the Blue Devils or they are from Blue Devils B or C. A lot of the guys from 2019 probably also aged out because the 2 year hiatus because of Covid.

Just because that hasn't occurred doesn't prove any ulterior motive. One of my friends is center snare for MCDC. She's fucking awesome. The line I'm in currently in college has two girls on the snare line. It's really not about keeping women down. But you can't just say philanderous shit and think everything cool.

@@lokineverfolds I think you have the edge in brass, as you have for much of the last decade. BD has a decided advantage in percussion. Then it’s down to design and visual execution. BD excellent in both. For Crown to take it, the brass have to be off the chart. Best of luck. I am just so happy to be having these discussions after 24 months of nothing.

@@FBarnacle I saw that score. The sky is the limit on how high their score will be at the end of the Finals in Indianapolis and there is still a decent amount of time for them to keep improving until then. GO BLUE DEVILS!!!

it's the trouble with a rookie line. it will come with time, and I'm sure future years will see insane cleanliness as we usually expect.

Everything was insanely hard, speedy, and requires a high level of touch that point until the end. Very hard to do with a rookie line. I'm positive they can all play it clean alone, but putting that touch together in a full line is insanely hard as all rookies. Much easier when your rookies are listening into a solid group of 4-5 to begin with. They are 'all' trying to find their sound together. Still solid shit regardless.

It's pretty bad for a world class line halfway through July, ESPECIALLY BD. I get that they're young but so is Vanguard and Boston and they're both insanely clean.

@@AndrewCsnare SCV isn’t running a full line of new members. SCV has like 4/5 vets from the 2021 line and the majority of their members are from UNT. It’s a totally unfair comparison. This is a rebuilding year. Cut them some slack.

@@nickpisarczyk No need to get snarky. If it's so obvious to you then you shouldn't feel the need to question it. If they want to note a rhythm in a different way then they can. Either way the transcription is correct.

@@sireislas3903 sure, and if I wanted to write quarter notes as a 4:4 polyrhythm I could, that doesn't mean that whoever looks at shouldn't question why on Earth I would make such a bizarre choice.

Ik this is a late reply, but i’m pretty sure it’s a phrasing thing, it’s supposed to be thought of as more legato and drawn out and I believe that’s why it’s written that way as opposed to a small notation which is often rushed or crushed. It is also a little bit cleaner on a page I see weird notations all the time. Jared Andrews always writes his paradiddles as a gallup with a double stroke diddle instead of a 16th note with RLRR. Helps with vison, cleanliness, and interpretation/phrasing.
