I wish the photographer would have climbed the stairs and gotten close ups of the cams, rocker arms, and especially the fuel injector, maybe next time !!!

@@jonnda - That's OK. Danish is a terrible language and I lost the use of it living in Australia since as a boy. But I sure recognise it when I hear it, sigh. BTW, that is still the largest diesel engine ever made, but not the most powerful. It is now in a museum and they run every now and then. My brother lives only a few minutes away. Love it.

@@D800Lover It certainly is neat, and I wish I could visit. Unfortunately, I only speak English. I tried to learn French as a kid, but it didn't happen for various reasons. I'm very unfamiliar with the differences between Dutch, Danish, scandinavian, Flemish, and certain German dialects. Like maybe I could tell that this isn't German, and it's not Norsk, but I couldn't say what it is.

@@D800Lover It's not the largest either; modern Two Stroke Marine Diesels have Stroke Lengths of over three and sometimes almost four Meters, making them about as high as this Engine here. They are built with up to 12 Cylinders tho, making them much longer.

Where the hack are your hot box covers? Also your HP fuel pump inlet and outlet fuel pipes are without spray boxes. Read Bulletin from MAN. Very nice video by the way...it brings some all memories...

I WORKED ON ONE OF THESE ENGINES ON THE MV TINTAGEL CASTLE IN THE 1960'S. The engine suffered cracked liners and the oil injectors were unreliable. otherwise it ran successfully.

I was an engineer on the Tintagel for more or less a year from 1957 until 1958 she was trouble free I only left because of my forthcoming marriage,I then joined the Stirling Castle,my last ship was the Roslin Castle.Happy days.
