Yeah, that can be a hard balance to strike for sure. I find what works for me is to set a very strict time box for work in those cases: doing just 3 hours of work (or maybe two 2-hour chunks), but with phone in a drawer, in super focus mode; then, when the time for work ends, you *have* to not work. It compresses it right down, like being on a super deadline. Otherwise, yeah, you always want to be doing the other thing, if there's not a clear mode set, whether work or non-work. Love the glimpses of Sicily! :D

You literally showed my favourite chips!!😭 I'm sorry you were alone during your time here, it's true that you don't easily make friends if you don't already have a circle going on from school, job etc. And mostly Greeks tend to stay within their circle. Also I lived in Athens my whole life and there's barely any events that will make you get to know people. Most people socialize at bars etc but I don't find this as legit way to meet friends.

Athens can be tough to meet and make friends. People stick to their own groups a lot, and even though they speak English, unless it is a crowd that studied abroad, they will most likely prefer to speak in Greek and therefore are less eager to make friends with non speakers. I found it easier to make friends with the international crowd which there's always Greeks who are more keen to speaking a different language in it. If you happen to pass by another time, we could go for tea/coffee. Enjoy your journey!
