98 XJ Nifty Shifter Jr. V1.2 Drive
มุมมอง 1.3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Just a quick country drive around the block with the Nifty Shifter Jr. V 1.2 freshly installed. Setup with the 4th gear on a toggle switch attached to shifter just below the handle. For crawling and hill killing when we take this jeep out im sure it will live with the shifter in the 1-2 position but my finger will be on the toggle switch to engage 2nd gear when I want that 2nd gear.
Rocks and Valleys, I get stuck! Part 2! - Comanche Truggy
มุมมอง 313 ปีที่แล้ว
This unknown to me obstacle name at Rocks and Valleys Offroad Park in Harrison, Mi. Come to find out not many people attempt this one and i find out why. I get my MJ pretty well wadded up in the obstacles. This took a little bit to get unstuck after all said and done. Keep an eye on those rear leaf springs right after i drop off the uprights!

This is a slow video progression of my $100 MJ. Where it winds up i don't know. Maybe i'll make something out of it or maybe it will wind up in the scrap yard. Just documenting whats getting done.

This is my (novice) how to tutorial on trimming your XJ/MJ Rear fender(s) for tire clearance. A very common technique and quick project. Sorry about my camera's focus messing up on me in a few spots.

what seems to have taken you little to no time at all to do, just took me all afternoon haha. I didn't cut as many tabs, I guess thats why it was harder to do. Only had to do the rears since previous owner already cut the fronts so thats all that was left to install the flares I need for inspection. Just waiting for the bedliner to cure now. Thanks for sharing how you do it.
I appreciate the feedback from your experience. Glad this video was helpful as well. The smaller width the tabs - the easier they are to fold over.
You could cut the spot welds only if you have a welder to close the gap. I plan on doing that for the extra clearance
Another fantastic job of f****** up a perfectly good Jeep
Hardly a perfectly good jeep my friend. Take your negativity elsewhere
Fold them out ?
Looks that’s what I’m doing this weekend, thanks
Good deal! My pleasure
I would never do that. All those cuts you made are going to rust!
It's all in how you go about it, I've done nothing but a coat of basic rattle can bedliner every year and it's still as solid as the day I cut them. Granted this jeep is no longer driven on Michigan's salty roads in the winter so its actual exposure to the elements are limited.
cool, if it gives shows using not with the reduced, using in mud.
Yup. This is what I wanna do. Just had to watch the vid anyway. Thanks man. I made the mistake of cutting the pinch on the rears on my first xj. Wish I had known better then lol. Live, fuck up, learn.
Thanks, I've done this a number of times, sometimes better than others but this one turned out pretty good.
Thanks man, appreciate you showing us! Great info on how to do it
Hey I’m the fucked up guy
That looks good, this video really help me make look good. Thanks
Hey you ever heard of great stuff?
I have some questions about the jeep cherokee
What ya got?
how would you go about fixing a jeep if somebody already cut the fuck out of the rear wheel well welds and its open lol.
When I see one that cut up I dont see a turning back for repairs. It can be done, just depends on how much effort you wanna put into it and how good you are at body work. If i were to go for it though I'd start with the whole wheel well and outside panel from another jeep and go from there about stitching it in.
@@JeepXJ8895 right. Well im inexperienced on body work. Wow that sounds difficult, i didnt realize i could even do that though.
@@prometheusthefirethief3479 im going to post a follow up video to this some time about how the fenders have held up to the cut and fold after these years. You could also reconstruct your wheel wells instead of trying to make it factory again. Maybe I can enlighten your situation in the video with some lose explanation. I guess we'll see
Were you get your rear bumper
Sorry I didn't reply sooner but this bumper was custom built
I like that method better than just trimming. The only thing I would do different is paint the inside & out before you fold the sheet metal for better rust protection. Nice job.
Any structural issues?
Nice garden run. Good work.
Looks smooth brother.
Like your hood vents bro. Any info on those? Is it a DIY? Or store bought.? Also, good video. Thanks man.
Thank you! They are custom made. Lots of options out there for vents, some are cheaper than others or just get creative and make what you like.
What size tire
Schon Mack 33's
What size tries
Schon Mack 33"
What about lift
rubicon express 3.5" lift. Coils and full leaf pack. added 1.5" shackle (stock ones were junk when i replaced leafs) and also an extra coil spring isolator up front. Maybe ill post an update walk around for this XJ.
damn you hammer fast
What back spacing are you using
Keith Lea the usual 3.5-4" backspacing. They are 15x8 rims
I am looking into hood vents any water/snow issues?
Matthew Connors nope, not much at all. Both my jeeps have hood vents and really dont get that much water under the hood.I would suppose depending on how uou do them can give you different water results.
I am looking into hood vents any water/snow issues?
Matthew Connors nope, none at all. Yea in the winter you may find a little snow under the hood or same if its been raining/ some wetness under the hood but its never effected the running of engine. Hood vents is something that i do basically to all my xj/mj's
Subbed nice jeep bro. you got wheel spacers? really sticking out.
thanks bud, no wheel spacers here. just another set of basic offset rims
Lots of fun off road clips, nice video!!
oh its a diesel?
honestly i dont think you can make a inline 6 sound as bad ass as they are without some serious mods what if you put some headers on it and ran straightpipes into a full flowmaster exhaust ie the highflow cats too
Thats a bad ring and pinion
Dan Hall I never updated this but its actually perfectly fine. just slop in the rear end. I have a very recent video on my channel from this passed weekend. Rear axle is still serving me well, the front axle on the other hand..... well, its a Dana 30
Hell yeah awesome. Good thing it didn't lock up on way home.
Was u in reverse when it happend. Or jumping it
South ga jeeepers i was hauling some ass up a wicked hill, bumped around on a few roots and popped a u-joint/axle shaft ( also resulting in some initial teeth cracking and chips) less than 2 weeks later i was out wheeling on some similar scenario's and I was getting on it pretty good trying to get over some logs and other obstacles and the teeth just started shredding.... limped it home 15 miles and opened it up...
Where did you get the muffler? everywhere I go it says it won't fit
All you need is a center inlet, offset outlet. Factory exhaust size is 2 1/4. You can go up to a 2.5 inch but then you will need a larger tailpipe which can get in the way of stuff and you will need an adapter for before the muffler. FLO-942447 is the part number through summit racing for the muffler you need if you decide to stay 2.25 inch pipe
I got mine from Amazon. $80+tax
idiot
the "excessive" slop is from the locker. still driving it all the time and there are no issues. fluid still clean so no worries
My jeep does the same, what did you find out?
good to hear man those bodies are not cheap!
nope i simply re-made the grill with some scrap styrene and then repainted the whole body...wasnt perfect but still looked really good
wow I wrote that like 8 months ago, did u ever get another one? they are nice and sorry yours got messed up
i'm a component of learning from experience. Since i searched and never found anyone that had clearly explain the process and were fairly vague (as stated from some of my searches "get a bucket full of cheap brake fluid and leave it overnight") i decided to go for it. yea i kinda failed but it was still a fun short project. thanks for the comment
Awesome!!!
wtf did u expect? that stuff is somewhat corrosive, overnight? well thanks for saving who ever u helped, I was lucky and got a normal version (no mud dog) u took one for the team!
da fuq?
exactly right. the break fluid actually soaked into the plastic and had made it very hard to work with. As i had said, it would come out much better if done by brush only...
Would you be able to add me as a friend on here so I could send you a link to my crawler body and see if it would fit on it?
@Md55Mark55Md The body is a Proline Racing 1/10th body... they are maybe $30 now?? but as far as paint... i used some basic rc body paint (Red for the body, then black for the trim pieces) then some spray bedliner on the outside of the body (lower portion of the doors). I'm not all that familiar with the redcat but the body's are very universal so if its a 1/10th scale i'm sure you could make it work. And thanks for the Comment btw
Very nice. I love what you've done with it. I saw the video on your forum. What all did you do to make the body? I just bought a Redcat racing RS10 crawler, do you think I could do the same thing for mine?
a little place we call Sullivan trails
yea i wouldn't mind getting a sami.. but i've got a comanche i'm building, there'll b a video up for it eventually thx for the comment
