Im watching DCI right now. I'm so tired of watching the corps prance around instead of marching like the old school days like this. They showed much more discipline and magic back then. I marched and it is so disappointing to see where DCI has gone. Don't get me wrong I LOVE DCI but this is real corp marching. When the players marched and not pranced (leave that for the color guard). GO BLUE DEVS.

That's J.D Shaw for you. He alway implements augmented chords in his arrangements and I love it. He did the same thing when he was writing for Phantom Regiment.

My biggest regret has always been that nobody ever told us WE could do DCI, or that there was an age limit. Will never forgive my band director, I always thought it was professional job growing up

Classy organizations who are secure about themselves don’t need to yell their name out there for everyone to hear. Instead, they let their work speak for itself and they make sure everyone knows their name due to said work, not due to having it yelled at them. Unfortunately, SCV is neither a classy nor a well-run organization. They almost went bankrupt and out of business due to financial mismanagement. On the field, they never consistently finish within the top tier of placements. So, they yell their name out of a deep-seated inferiority and insecurity complex that they harbor about themselves due to all of the above. They know that they have always been, and will always be, second banana in their own state to the Blue Devils (or at least perceived as such). So, yelling their name and getting the crowd to yell it along with them is their way of lashing out at their unenviable status as also-rans. Again: people and organizations that are secure about themselves don’t need to yell out their own names. You will never hear BD scream their name out to any crowd, ever. That’s because people damn well already know exactly who BD is: they’re usually the ones hoisting up the big ol’ shiny trophy at the end of the summer. No name-yelling needed when you're the champs.

In my opinion, Blue devils 1993 were the best.

I think anyone who hears the original for the first time ends up at the end 😮 Subsequent listening are equally stunning. There’s a reason it’s widely covered.

Although they're a highschool group, Hebron's (2021?) show Penstriped had this same Blue Shades excerpt that was such a nice addition to an amazing closer.
