What is wrong with risk management today
I address what I believe to be one of the biggest issues impacting on organisation’s ability to manage risk effectively - the definition/s of risk.
*Controversy alert* - uncertainty is not a risk!

Risk Management Likelihood Criteria
มุมมอง 1.7K9 ปีที่แล้ว
I am going to talk about likelihood criteria. I've seen the full gamut, from people using percentages. 90 to 99% is almost certain. I’ve seen organisations use instances per year and I’ve also seen instances per transactions. But what happens when for part of the organisation one likelihood criteria is appropriate but for the other part of the organisation another criteria is appropriate?

    Love how you put this together. Helps us to get focused on the main things that are actually risks, and make the main thing the main thing, rather than getting overwhelmed by all the other compliance requirements in WHS and getting lost int he maize.

    I really liked your perspective on it, as a data specialist, I have trouble with digitizing uncertainty ))) At the same time, I still see some space to have uncertainty as an effect on the organisational objectives, particularly when we have a first occurrence of the "incident" event. Post-factum we know that it could be controlled, but we didn't know it exists. Please, comment or tell me if I am wrong/don't understand.

    At 1:20 you say studies show that it costs 10x more to deal with an incident reactively than proactively. What studies?

    • @amritkaur9055
      @amritkaur9055 ปีที่แล้ว

      Studies mean research. Now don't ask what research?

    • @samharrison1
      @samharrison1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@amritkaur9055 Yes obviously I know what studies are. I’m not asking “what are studies?”, I’m asking “what studies”. Ie. If they exist, name them.

    Hello sir, could people without a mathematical background work in risk management? I'm an undergrad, geography major, and I'm fascinated by taking into consideration multiple geographical or geopolitical aspects to manage/mitigate clients' risk. But I'm not sure if insurance companies would hire people without a math background. Do you have any advice?

    • @zulsaad9708
      @zulsaad9708 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      May I help. Hospital Operations are very custom made. We must undergo many processes 1. You have to conduct Due Diligence and Risk Assessment. 2. Executive Report for Recommendation and Approval. 3. Write a Manual- Risk Management Manual 4. Awareness Programme and Training. 5. Officially Launch the Risk Management Manual 6. Monitoring Process Call me for more details. zzulksa@gmail.com +6019 2262378

    Been on the proverbial wheel of workplaces with blame culture I don't know what attracts me to such organizations. These workplaces taught me. A-) Errors glitches or mistakes didn't and do not occur. B-) Taught me this very same mantra Little things where met with extremely harsh consequences from managers/Leading hands with Hot and violent tempers that make Jake the muss look like a saint. More often than not people where sacked (at will) for something Beyond the workers control such as a tool malfunctioning after being verbally abused in front of other staff by hothead agitated managers. Staff where broken by this ill treatment in fact one guy I worked with king hit a total stranger in the street during morning smoko break (he was stone cold sober and never a drug user BTW) and blamed the assault on the toxic persona of our boss at the time (who still works for that company BTW). Blame discipline then solve welcome to the NZ workplace
