American Folk Rhapsody No. 4, by Clare Grundman
I play this for my high schools veteran day assembly. I play trombone 3. I kinda suck at it but it's still very fun to play! if any of you play or have played it, I hope you guys enjoy!!
Great performance. Would it be possible to get the piano part? I purchased the Carl Strommen arrangement after hearing your band but didn't realize that there was no piano part. Very disappointing.
Our piano player knew the piece and improvised the part. He is no longer with the band. We have no written part. I have had previously heard from other directors who had the part in a piano solo book and were able to adapt the part. Best of luck!
Nice job! I enjoyed that very much! - Randall Standridge, composer "Darklands March"
Thank you! We have greatly enjoyed exploring your music. We appreciate the work you do!
Rasp, wood depth. Thank you.
We play with Rowan College-South Jersey-Cumberland Campus, at many of our events.
5 timpani on stage and no timpanist for this peice? LOL
helll yeah brother
Don’t mind me. 1:27, 1:38
1:24 when we play this i get chills
Blue ridge strong
We play this every summer in the Neenah Community Band and the veterans always stand when their service is honored. Wonderful!!!
what is this hot dogshit????? no brass?????!
Wow! Amazing performance!
Anybody else throwing it back to the last little bit or. .
I'm currently in a High level Highschool band playing this exact piece and arrangement, and I can tell you that this is a difficult piece of music to play. Even though they definitely need more practice, this band did a fine job.
hi from a high school level cellist playing this piece as well; i hope you and your band are doing well ^^
@@enysesilva Thanks, you too
My high school is playing this right now too It is very hard
@@claytonsmith3732 it can be difficult at first, but it gets better after some practice. Also, heres a tip: perfecting your 12 major scales will help you immensely in all music
Bro I got a concert in two days for veterans in our high school and it sounds like we are sight reading for the first time. Trumpets sound like flat tires, The percussion speeds up and slows down abnormally. I’m actually kind of embarrassed to be in the band.
This is one of the songs we played at State competition, I was second chair french horn. I was petrified that we'd be out of tune. In my four years of high school, we never got below straight 1's at any competition we went to. It was what made me love high school.
Haven’t heard this song in 30 years! Not since concert band in high school! 👍🏼❤️
Our band played this, I always loved it.
My band is currently learning it, I just clicked on this video to get a reference.
I’m killing myself over this trumpet part
Alto saxes !!!
My junior high band played this but a different version there was four songs
Our high school band played this at our Christmas concert.
Dope, playing it tonight.
Was it Saddleback high school
Love the piano! Did you write your own part for it?
Yes! Our pianist created his own part. Very talented individual! Thank you for listening.
God bless America
Not sure about the grade, but as a percussionist, the tempo changes require close attention to the conductor. Other than that, the piece is not difficult. Love it when the audience applauds. Anchors Aweigh ends the piece.
Can anyone give an approximate level of difficulty for this piece? Would you say grade 3?
I would guess closer to a 4. Key changes are the trickiest part. After that, balancing counter melodies with melodies, and style...Good luck with preparing this piece!
Yeah like I legit played it today. It's not hard as we legit had it for only a week before performance. But I missed a note a couple times because I forgot about key changes
Ma'am, I'm in advanced Highschool band, and I can tell you that this is a VERY difficult piece to play properly
@@ImNotCreativeEnoughToMakeUser ya same I played it like 2 days ago and it was pretty dang hard
@@Jc0i3 My band is a straight-superior rated band, and yet we struggled with it
our band plays too
playing this in my band right now, this is really cool!
Keep up the good work.
What about the sound pyramid??? It's hard to hear the trumpets over the base clarinet and alto saxophone
I need to hear the 3rd trumpet's better
Man does this bring back the memories.
Hi
Your background needs to quiet down A LOT. also I don't hear any vibrato. Helps a lot you know.
+Ema Robertson As an all-volunteer organization we are very proud of what we accomplished and what we provide to the community.
you guys sounded good. I was impressed by the clarity of the tubas
Trio first time too loud the marcato didn't stand out in the middle
+Fresh Gaming As an all-volunteer organization we are very proud of what we accomplished and what we provide to the community.
+AP Winds Well okay I see you guys did great either way but if the trio was a little softer in the beginning and accent not marcato
I totally agree. And that's coming from a percussionist.
this sounds GREAT!!!! I wish our band would play this piece!
+Jaclyn Mallo Thank you for your kind words. It's a really neat piece. Which instrument do you play?
I play Baritone Euphonium in band, but I also play Violin and Piano. :)
+Jaclyn Mallo How funny! I play trombone, euphonium, and piano with this group. I have also arranged a lot of music for the band.
The Heart of Texas Concert Band will be playing this at a February 2015 concert. Check our youtube channel in March to see our performance.
