Make sure you are leaning on the circle. Watch the direction of your shoulders and your hips.
Using a scribe to check a double 3 turn

Pivot the scribe top from the top of the circle to where it intercepts the edges and repeat this on the other side. This motion cuts the circle in to 3 parts. Place the 3 turns where the scribe touched the original circle. Good Luck! Figures are for Everyone!

My Zen. Go slow, bend your knees and be a statue. Try to limit your arm and leg movement especially when you change circles. Work to avoid swinging your leg through the change as you progress. Feel your body press in to the ice. Do the best you can, keep trying and remember- Figures are for Everyone!

Do they still do figures in ice skating like in the 70s aand 80s when I was skating
Suzanne Silvis - yes, they do! They are not required, but you can still do them, practice, test and compete them. I passed the 8th (Gold) in December of 2018.

Where can I find a scribe?
Michelle, they are tricky to find. Some times they show up on eBay. There is a person out in Sun Valley (I think) who is making them. Check the Facebook page “the Compulsory Figures Project” :) hope this helps!
