Making momigami using kozo paper and konnyaku paste. (Further treating the momigami with kakishibu)
I am in LOVE with Japanese art. I wanted to make authentic momigami to use in journal and book making.
The formula for the paste is 1/4 tsp konnyaku starch powder to 1/2 cup of water. I messed this up in the video.

I made these beautiful covers using a very old Appalachian made quilt. I love repurposing quilts that can no longer be used on our beds. This allows the quilt maker’s stitches to live on. I tried the double sided tape from the dollar store but it's cheaper when you evaluate how much more you get for 2.97 at Walmart. They also sell it in the hardware department at the dollar store but I haven't tried that one. Also found some in grab bags at the local thrift store.

I tried using wide scotch magic invisible tape which is more of a mat finish on tissue paper and I liked it. Then I ran the sheet thru my xyron sticker maker before cutting into strips. What’s nice about it is, I leave it as a sheet and then cut it to the width I want (up to the width of the tape strip) when I go to use it. I had some 2” which is almost gone now and can’t seem to find more, but the 1” is easy to find. I heard running the sheet through the die cutter after helps bond the adhesives together and it will be smoother and more transparent but I haven’t tried that yet. I want to play with the napkins next as well as your ideas about the masking tape (have loads of that!) and inking. Thanks for a great video! Just what I was looking for.

Kelly, I have just found your channel. I first watched the washi tape demo and then went to the 'home' (I don't know what it is really called) and: 1. see you haven't done in videos in months (so I hope you and your family are well) and 2. Found this precious video of Willow. I am a dog lover. Have had so many rescues over the years, and still have several. We don't get much snow in Texas, but I've seen mine play as Willow is doing. I watched it three times it was so pleasing. Again, I hope all is well with you. Diane (is your 'Doodle' a golden doodle, a labradoodle? I'm most familiar with those two doodles.

I have not made videos because I have been overwhelmed with my job. I am a middle school science teacher. I am hoping to be back on soon. I have so so so many ideas. And, I have finished a few projects that I need to put on my channel. I am also quite the dog lover. My doodle, Watson, is a labradoodle. His mother is a chocolate lab and his father is a black and white standards party poodle. Thank you so much for watching my videos. I honestly just love showing people what I am doing because I am hoping it inspires someone to try something new or different. I am also hoping it will help someone come up with even better ideas. Crafting and art can be just what we need to help with such stressful times.

This is an excellent comparison of the different techniques - thank you. You could use Magic tape instead of Packing tape to create the paper rub-off stickers/tape. That would give a satin effect. Or I wonder if you could just paint on some Matte medium over the gloss tape to tone down the gloss 🤔

Hope you’ve found an answer by now, but it’s just called “hypoallergenic tape” or “paper medical tape”. It’s not the same as the mesh style one used for fake eyelashes though, so just watch out for that - you should be able to get it at any pharmacy or general shop where first aid items are sold, or online (I bought some from Ali Express cheaply. It tends to always be white, whereas the mesh version seems to often be blue or pink. And you can buy it in 2.5cm width or 5cm width (or whatever your equivalent measurement system is).

Got some at the Shoprite here in NJ but since saw it in the dollar store and I had some from the hospital too. Don’t know how well the dollars store one works but I may get some and try it. The supermarket one was not cheap which defeats the purpose of avoiding buying expensive washi tape, but when I bought it I needed it for a bad cut I had to keep covered.
