Pacifica Whales (Aug 2024)
Just south of San Francisco, Monterey Bay plays host to several whale species. Killer Whales may be present year-round, Gray Whales and Blue Whales pass through during their migration and the Humpbacks in this video spend their summers in the area. As the seabed drops off sharply, they can occasionally be found quite close to shore. Around the time we filmed these clips, they were easily visible from the Pacifica Pier and nearby beaches.

Gentoo Penguins of Mikkelsen Harbor, Antartica

This video reflects our experience visiting Mikkelsen Harbor (D'Hainaut Island) Antartica in November 2023. We visited at the beginning of the season and found the Gentoos were just arriving and starting to claim their nesting spots. The island was still covered in snow, but as the snow melts they will make their nests on the rocky ground.

This was certainly one of the last things we would ever have imagined experiencing. It was surreal and wonderful, kayaking around Mikkelsen Harbor in Antartica. Snow, ice, freezing cold water and a few penguins as well. We are glad to be able to share the experience. Enjoy.

On our initial day in Nairobi, prior to starting our safari with G Adventures, we took the opportunity to visit Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and see some of the orphaned elephants in their care. We suggest: - If you're thinking of visiting, reserve an entry ticket well in advance. It's a popular destination with limited visitation. - Consider pairing this with a visit to the nearby Giraffe Center.
Red Fox at Yellowstone National Park

Exploring Glacier National Park in the fall of 2021. September was a great time to be there, the fall colors were splendid and we encountered grizzly bears, black bears, bighorn sheep, mountain goats and moose. Images were captured while driving the Going to the Sun Road and while hiking in the area of Logan Pass, Two Medicine Lake and Bowman Lake.

Wonderful video. I was at Zuro Loma this June, and your video was very representative of our experience. The experience of holding the hand feeder and having the Hummingbirds come to me was otherworldly!

Do you need a prior booking to visit the reserve please?
I do not think a booking is necessary. We booked a day excursion through Neotropical Nature and Birding who took care of all the details and provided transportation, but there were other people who arrived on their own and were welcomed. The preserve has a Facebook page under "Zuro Loma Birding" and an Instagram account under "zero_loma_reserve" which might help as well. The Facebook account has contact info for the reserve. Enjoy your visit.
