@MyAfricana found a way to cook it with a a pressure cooker. Doesn't come out as nice but it's good enough. I'll share.

I used a hiking company- @theoutdoortribe (you can check them out on IG). They organized everything, provided the medics, snacks, company guides, transport and facilitated clearance with KFS/KWS and a guide from the same. However, if you make your way to the park, KWS entrance fees will apply and a guide from KWS/KFS will be provided for you.

It really comes out soft, tender and juicy every single time…and the beauty is the simplicity of the process/recipe. I believe this will really favour your parents. On the foil issue, I believe it will still work but now I’m not certain on the juiciness or tenderness. Here now you’ll have to rely on the quality of meat, conditions of the choma environment (closed or open). Foil helps the meat to cook in its own juices and fats while retaining the moisture. I can’t really assure you that it would be the same without the foil.

Plain salt and a little bit of your preferred cooking oil (ground black pepper is optional)

There are no charges, unless you specifically hosting an event or a group of people at the picnic site then you’ll pay extra for the people accessing the site on top of the entrance fee.

This is Kenyan style. Uganda we dont use oil. It makes its own.

@PeterNgugi The oil here was not to cook the peanut sauce as the peanuts generate their own oils. It’s to sauté the onions and only a drop went a long way.

I remember my grandma serving us like 30 years ago, but I cant remember how she used to prepare it, I only remmember her roasting njugu first, then smushing, the rest sijui but it was so delicious

@EDGEHILLBBKE nothing can match grandma’s recipe 🤗 they always had that magic touch and their meals are always delicious 😋 I’m a student of many great grandmothers, mothers and fathers who made/make beautiful meals. I always try to personalize recipes to match my time and resources 🤗 always happy to learn from others.

Hello, it wasn’t bad at all. We found it to be convenient as we could pay using Mpesa at any point. It’s good to change at the border if you intend to be in the country for a long time but for the day visit it’s not necessary.

Hi, thanks for reaching out. It serves me really well. I still have it but the mixing bowl is slightly smaller that I thought. Mixes up to 3kgs well. The only issue I have with it is the fact that the paddle attachment doesn’t scrap the walls of the mixing bowl well. But that’s a rather small inconvenience. It struggles a bit when making bread dough. It’s a good entry level/ budget mixer though

By January moving forward the snow melts away due to high heat (changed weather conditions) it’s usually snowy towards the last quarter of the year. I hope to go back when it’s snowy to have that experience.

Camera inadanganya…. Up here everything is high so it feels normal. It’s quite high but you won’t feel it because of the time spent acclimatizing the high altitude.
