EPZ Q1 Pro: Solid Beginner IEM!
Discord Invite: discord.gg/QeZ2k3Sg9S
Shoutout to EPZ for sending out the Q1 Pro, appreciate it. As I said in the video though, not paid or influenced to say anything good or bad about the iem, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Link to the EPZ Q1 Pro: www.aliexpress.com/item/3256806280784069.html
Also forgot to mention, the EPZ Q1 Pro uses a flush 2-pin connection, stage is more intimate than claustrophobic, stage height and depth aren't that great, width is a bit better but still between the ears as I said. Note weight could be better, and dynamics are kinda flat. If there's anything else I forgot ask in the comments and I'll clarify there and update here as well. Cheers!

    I got into earbuds by accident when the cable for my moondrop quarks slowly started giving out, and after it broke, I was forced to switch to JVC earbuds for the time being while I find a replacement. I was in between the Fio FF3 and the FF5, but after the FF5 went on sale, I decided to pull the trigger on them, and when I got them, I was a little disappointed with the sound. I tried them without any foams, and my initial reaction wasn't great. They had great clarity and a big sound stage, but there was almost no bass or rumble. After some heavily bass-boosted song burn-in and a couple of bass foam replacements, now they sound great, and if you really want to hear them rumble and feel the bass, it comes down to insertion the deeper they fit in your ear, the better.

      Yeah fit and seal are very important in the sound of flathead earbuds, that's why I always use full or donut foams, they help with that a lot.

    Great review! I'm a music producer so I use good overear studio headphones when working on a project, however, for regular music listening, for me, nothing beats the convenience and comfort of earbuds. I can't stand the underwater sensation and microphonics of IEMs, so I prefer these flathead style earbuds. I would love to get these, they look really nice, but that price is really steep considering that flathead earbuds are way less popular than traditional IEMs that almost everyone has. I think if they would price these at around $100, they would explode in popularity and would be a much better value. Just out of curiosity, how much did you pay for these on Black Friday?

    • @ShenSource
      @ShenSource ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to try the regular Blessing 2, only the Dusk. However, what seems to be the universal differences that people notice are that the Dusk has a more focused bass shelf (more subbass with a bit of a midbass tuck, keeps bass clean but there is a bit less punch) and the mids and treble are slightly tamed, but other than that they should be pretty close, just depends on your preferences :)

      1. I don't necessarily think good gear turns bad with time, I'm just looking at what was considered a great budget pick years ago in the lens of today's iem market. 2. I don't believe 4.4mm is necessarily better than 3.5mm, depend on the source's implementation for each connector. 3. Both cables had earhooks so they did go over the ear. 4. Sure sources can make a difference, but I don't think they can change the sound of transducers that drastically, just shifts in tonal/technical characteristics.

    • @ShenSource
      @ShenSource ปีที่แล้ว

      1. Yes it's a legend but this iem market moves at a breakneck pace so even old legends are mostly forgotten, that's just how it is. 2. Balanced isn't just on the cable end, it's also dependent on how manufacturers make the sources and implement the chips and whatnot. So that's why I don't necessarily care for or dismiss balanced, I'll use it if I want but I think at the end of the day the tuning of the transducer is the biggest change in sound in the chain. 3. The sound is fine whether or not I wear the iems straight down or over the ear like regular iems. The core of the cables isn't significant. I don't believe in cables sounding noticably different unless it's impedance/cable being broken or something else. 4. I should've clarified what I meant regarding sources not sounding significantly different. What I meant was for example, one solid state to another. I understand the difference between solid state and tube amps, and how class a changes the sound, etc. However as I said before, switching between transducers will always be the biggest change in sound/presentation in the changes, and yes sources matter in this regard but it's not the biggest in comparison.

    you say s12 can be powered by apple dongle it is kind of true because at 35% volume s12 gets loud enough for casual listening but what i noticed is that you get more bass from a more powerfull source (60mW minimum is my guess). my experience is the following : i match loudness for vocals on my sources : from apple dongle(31mw) or es100 single ended (30mw) they sound very similar but from es100 balanced (90mw) i get more bass while having the same loudness for vocals. on apple dongle or es100 SE if i raise volume to match the bass loudness if get on ES100 bal, the vocals and trebble gets unbearably loud so the difference is only in bass quantity.

      Tbh those are pretty good iems that you got there already, dunno if many iems under $200 would necessarily provide an upgrade tonality/tech-wise. Hmmm, changing your sources could provide slight changes that are enough to make a difference, the best source I have is probably my Hiby R5 Gen 2, it sounds clean enough and the class a mode makes the dap warm but it adds a bit of warmth and fullness. Keep in mind though, I definitely don't recommend daps for price to performance sources, just only if you want a standalone device for music only. Dongles work well enough for iems and are much more versatile

    Reasoning why you are not hearing any soundstage others have claimed to hear is because you are using foam tips. Foams are killing all of that, to the point as well as on the EJ07m you probably have to turn it up louder than needed thus making siblance peaks because the foams are taking away certain frequencies..

      It's a pair of Letshuoer stock tips, and regarding iems with wide staging I haven't heard any that I'd say are actually wide like headphone stage, just ones that headstage well like the Moondrop S8 for example

    Discord Invite: discord.gg/QeZ2k3Sg9S Realized I forgot to say some things, let me say them here. Serratus bass is slightly warmer, thicker and meatier. Chaconne bass has less quantity and is more fast and a bit cleaner (not that Serratus bass is dirty or anything). Both bass has rolloff but Serratus has less. Serratus mids are fine but I prefer the mids of the Chaconne for being more forward, upper mids especially make female vocals and instruments sound more lively. Treble is extended on both but non-fatiguing and no sibliance. Regarding technicalities, I'd say the Serratus edges out the Chaconne slightly for detail, both resolve fairly well. Staging for both is typical of bud, which is to say wide. I don't hear much height and depth (Serratus might have slightly more). Both have solid imaging, Serratus has slightly more intimate imaging though, that is to say things are placed closer to you in the stage than Chaconne. Timbre is bud timbre, which is to say natural. Neither have excellent dynamics but they're fine enough on that front. Overall I prefer the Chaconne, mainly for the tuning (I prefer the mids), but the Serratus is no slouch. if you were mainly looking for price to performance I'd recommend the Serratus over the Chaconne, but since I got both I don't have to choose. I like the Serratus and rec it, it's solid for the money and if you wanna try higher end buds this is certainly an option on the market.

    • @ShenSource
      @ShenSource ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I sold my Clairvoyance already so I can't a/b test them, but I did have them with about a month of each other so I can offer some listening thoughts that I had written down. Both bass on the S8 and Clair could be improved, but the dd bass on the Clairvoyance was more underwhelming to me because the lack of texture and impact. It was just really dull and boring sounding to me. The S8 could also have more impact but also I was more okay with it because at least the bass was faster and cleaner. The mids or the Clair are more full than the S8 but I prefer the S8's upper mids because it lends itself very well to female vocals and instruments like piano, etc. The treble winner is the S8 by far, best treble I've heard probably to date. For some reason the Clair treble sounded not as extended as the graphs show and didn't sound as airy as it should've. Both have good tech tbh but overall I prefer the S8 by a long shot. Haven't tried Thieaudio's newer stuff but I'm not particularly keen to unless they wanna send me stuff to review lol. Anyway, hope this helped you out even a little. :)
