Amy, why did 'auntie' go after Zuri for playing with baby's foot?
Galatea's just trying to get Zuri into a play session, definitely no aggression there. Gali is also trying to get close to interact with the baby herself, but Zuri's not wanting to share.

What happened to them?
Zwala passed away in 2014 after having a bad reaction to an anesthetic, which was a terrible shock as she was only sixteen years old. Last year, Soona died giving birth to Boon as she'd bled uncontrollably due to the physiology of her uterus. It was absolutely heartbreaking, especially so soon after losing Zwala. Boon would have died immediately after birth had the rest of the chimp family not intervened and taken care of him. The pregnant alpha female Zombi fed him on colostrum, and it was hoped that he'd be able to be raised alongside her baby, but sadly it was not to be. He grew weak and was taken by the keepers to be hand-raised, but he passed away several days later.
So where is this and what's the deal ?
apes in captivity out of wilds losing/reduction in size of hair? Is this common? Epigenetics-curious anyi deas?
I’ve heard that they over groom each other in captivity and then they are allergic to the hay

The enclosure looks very dirty.
+Amy Atherton Sooo much better for them than concrete! Concrete tears up their skin. There is one poor gorilla in a zoo in Korea who lost almost his entire foot due to the concrete before they finally rehabbed the enclosures with deep soil, grass, bushes, trees and wood platforms & other non-concrete structures. This was the best infant group to be in if you were a baby chimp. No adult male like zac to steal your food or beat you up every day. Jessica was the adult and Martha the teenager. So it was a pretty laid back group. It is great to see all of them from the show now that they are no longer babies. Mowgli was the smallest 2yr old that I have ever seen. He must have been malnurished as a young chimp to be so small. Now he looks much better.
Charles arrived in the group shortly after Jessica, so the kids definitely had an alpha male figure to be respectful of. I wouldn't put stealing food past Jessica either! Mowgli was awesome, it was really great to see him so big and active. I'd love to go back and see these guys again sometime!
From 110 and on you must have forgotten how to operate the recording device that you are attempting to operate. back up some or something because we couldn't see anything but the occasional top of a head, poor job. Just keep practicing and you will finally get it. Thanks for trying though.
