the spread bore had a different exhaust manifold
We like too much the land rover
Great video! My dad and I hosted the Series 1 club meeting in Colombia last year, amazing cars. We have a few we’re fixing.
I have a third lever by the seat…. What is it for?? Thanks
You may have the later transmission where the third lever selects 2 or wheel drive. Or could be overdrive, could be winch, could be PTO. Get underneath and see were it goes.
Гавнище просто.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Dad's making reproductions of these grills in Qld Australia. Amazing stuff.
First time I hear about the 4wd design with the free-wheel in those very early LRs. It looks to me as a very bad engineering concept. I must wonder why Rover did not just adopt the Willys Jeep 2-lever 4wd system which is superior in concept to anything LR has designed since.
The S1 looks like it has exactly the same curved side as the S2 to me except back at the door top. Front wing looks the same curve but wider.
pretty landy! i have series 2a 109
Land Rover Forever.
Fabulous Land Rover 👍
How important is it to wear a hat during ownership?
What happened to you guys... No new videos, communication, zippp. Just unsubscribed... 🇿🇦
What was those 2 x copper pipes and red stop valve for???
Heater I believe.
Hello! Wondering if you will ever do more videos possibly with some driving? Thank you!
WATCH THE FULL VIDEO HERE: vimeo.com/ondemand/lrsochomelands
I like mechanical bits sticking out! this is why the series 1 is my #1 fav out of all the rovers. especially the 80".
Nice one👍
Brilliant! Thanks for this. I now have a good understanding of what is fitted in my rather odd 4x2 Series 1. Here she is: th-cam.com/video/Dy5Sbr5YOG0/w-d-xo.html
I've been familiar with the 4-wheel-drive system on a Series Land Rover since I was 12.
Great to watch!
learned how to drive on a 1958 , Landrover, when i was 14, myself and my father did a lot of trout fishing , in Newfoundland Ca. many memories , I am 66 yrs old now , still love the Landrover
is it possible to swap 300tdi engine to series 1?
hi great video, but i am not at a disco !no music please,
I had a '49 with the bored out 2L engine. Used to blow head gaskets about every month! Miss it loads...
My favourite is the "lights through".
Es fácil manejarlos, debe aprender a sincronizar cambios y hacerlos suaves para no quebrar la flecha corta
Interesting differences. I love these old Land Rovers. They were so perfect when they were new, they only needed slight tweaking. Simple was best. They are quite rare in the US, especially here in California. If you find one here they cost a small fortune. We have a Jeep JKU which is fun, however the series Land Rovers always get my attention! I’m enjoying your channel.👍
Sz
Thanks for that but music completely unnecessary and spoilt the dialogue.
Doesn’t the transmission wind up if it’s in fwd all the time the power is on?
Yes if you are on tarmac. Just reverse a few feet to unwind.
Nice little interlude on the train home. Not enough decent Series content on you tube. I’d love to see some S1 restoration work. All the best. (Little Green Landy)
Why do you rush it so much? Go for a bit more "airtime" seeing you are there now.? Just as I sat back for this informative clip, it ends... Hope the next one will cover the differences between the Sii and Siia, as there is always discussions/different opinions, with quite a few identification points, not known to everyone interested.. Nice clip, but really not enough for the effort... Regards from Hermanus, RSA
👍
Just subscribed as well 🤝🏻💪🏻
The first 80" looks neat, but not all original if it is an 1949/1950 model.. Is it the "lights behind the grille" Landy.! I could only see the 2 x later wiper motors, and the turning light (flicker) control arm. Eary models only had one wiper motor, and the switch for the flickers were on the hooter/steering centre.. Or am I wrong.. Just checking... Love the 4 wheel reverse lock, first time ever I have seen it... Only know about "the yellow knob". Thanks for a nice video. Regards from Hermanus, the Land Rover Capitol of RSA 🇿🇦
Hello from Brazil, It is so good to understand and learn with your explanations about those little details that makes an huge difference in those cars, thank you, Marcos
Love the see the club putting up more videos, I think turn the music down or turn off all together. It's quite hard to hear you talking. 👍👍
Will do in future videos.
Great explanation thanks
Hoezit Alan 👍🏻🇿🇦 🤝🏻
I enjoy these vids but you could lose the music. It’s an unnecessary distraction. The words are d more important. I’ve learned how they improved gasket reliability when they hogged it out to 2 litres Thanks
Nice to see the yellow and red levers tied together with a genuine rover elastic band. As all rovers from the fifties to the eighties are obliged to have. Mine included.
Clear and concise video. Thank you.
Paint the rims green horrible red
Shame about the red wheel rims
Hi I've just bought a series 1 1600 cc rebuild, it's a beautiful vehicle. Are there any books or videos out there on basic mechanics for the layman, for example what to check if I broke down. Maybe a book of the basic knowledge I would need to know ?
Hi, Great video are you planning on making anymore? I just dragged my 80" out after being in storage for quite a while now, this really help remind me where all the greese nipple etc are again. Could you recomend what greese you would use on your propshaft, and oil in the axl, gearbox etc. I really want to give mine a good service but am not really sure what my best options are. Thanks
Excellent & fun 👌
Excellent mine is a 1951 so similar...👌
Music spoils a good video.
