Great video, Sir. But I want to clarify that in checking for punching shear you didn't account for the moment bi-axial contributing to your ultimate shear which generated the greater shear stress, also as ACI 318 Design Guide and RC Book 7 Ed James Wight (both 2016), u must check for the combinations of shear stress due to shear force and moment transferred. When it comes to check the bi-axial moment, both of one way to two way shear. The calculations for the Qu max and min is a sum of the 3 components such as Aksial Factored, Moment Factored about X axis and Moment Factored about Y axis.

It is splendid. Step by step. Very lucid and made simple, presentation. Keep it up. Please let me know which code you followed and the year/edition of the code? Also, why the design philosophy adopted is ASD, why not ULS/LRFD, as the current international practice for strength design is to do by ULS/LRFD. May be for purlins, ASD is acceptable. Please let me know.

Pano po pag may shear at tensile force?
For combined Tension & Shear in bearing type connections, Rn = F'nt*Ab, where F'nt = 1.3Fnt - Fnt*fv/ΦFnv ≤ Fnt. F'nt is the nominal tensile stress modified to include the effects of shearing stress. Please refer to section 510.3.7 of the NSCP 2015. Soon, I will create another video for this one.

can you have an example for shear strength? is it 0.45(0.45)(248)?
For shear strength, the solution would be like this: ΦVn = Φ*Fnv*Ab = 0.75*(0.45*400)*Ab

you need to get first the Shear Force from the structural analysis...Let's say if you have an ultimate shear force Vu = 80,000 N / 4bolts = 20,000 N = 0.75*(0.45*400)*Ab. Ab = 148.15sqm. hence, use 16mm diameter bolt.
