NW Live Arts presents their concert, Soundscapes from the Planet.
Exploring our need to connect with nature in order to recognise the impact of climate change, this was the culmination of a collaborative project bringing together five wonderful musicians - Hyelim Kim Taegum, Rosie Bowker flute, Colin Alexander cello, James Larter percussion, and Suntou Susso kora with six storytellers from the community in Finchley. The wide-ranging programme includes a vibrant mix of song, instrumental music, new compositions exploring different musical cultures, West African ensemble and folk song. In addition the storytellers perform compelling new pieces in dialogue with the musicians reflecting on the power of nature and our need to allow the planet to restore.
We curate performances of inspired music-making by world-class professional musicians from different cultures, together with storytelling by people from marginalised communities.
At our events, you will be exhilarated by an exciting feast of music from around the world, underpinned by powerful storytelling from those who face challenges in their daily lives.
We are dedicated to creating an inclusive space for people to explore their individual creativity, whilst building self-esteem and confidence. Our extraordinary musicians work sensitively with our community participants to present a woven narrative of music and words which reflect themes of social injustice and the environment.
