Howdy! I'm jimerado, and I love taking road trips and making travel videos. I especially enjoy being on the road, and documenting the actual drive getting to where I am going. Most of my trips are in my home state of Kentucky and neighboring states, but not always. I also like to discuss books, music, people, animals, and personal stories relating to my adventures.

There was a Ferrell's on Green Street in Henderson, Kentucky many years ago. It was a tiny place and was always full of customers. It's drive-thru business was busy, too. They tore it down to add to a church's parking lot.
I lived in Louisville for three years and never heard of this. Where exactly is it as it is described between Lexington and Louisville? That takes in a lot of territory.
Hey Knothead... If you look at a map, it is in Louisville, but it is very much to the east.... Its very close to Jeffersontown.
@@jimerado2150 Thanks.
Beautiful eastern copperhead
I did appreciate the colors on several of the snakes.
Thanks fpr sharing
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
Thanks for the shout out for my performance! Glad you enjoyed the show and hope to be back next year.
Hey Brian! I am so glad you saw my video! Will you be in the play again next year?
Good Video
Hey, thanks Drew!
Come check us out next :) We are just down the road in Martin, TN.
Just looked your place up.... looks very interesting! We will be by next time!
When was there a subway there?? I drove through there a while back and there is no sign of there ever being a subway.
If you’re ever back there I would try the Hawaiian chicken BLT it’s awesome!
Oh, that does sound good!
The other one is Martin Tn about 20 mins away
I need to check that one out too.
Love that place, best subs I’ve ever had
YYYYEEESSS! They were doing everything right!
Did Larry tell you about another female ghost that has been seen in the mirror in the Seelbach restaurant once called "Otto's?" Otto's was named for Otto Seelbach and is now called "Gatsby's." I hope the mirror is still there. The last time I was in The Seelbach it was. I have a family member in the lobby paintings about Kentucky. Thanks for the video. Happy trails!
Thanks! He did tell a lot of stories..... Whats your family connection to the paintings at the hotel????

Look out Hoptown ! ..ex Guthrie resident on the line..
I was in town as well. I am working on my own version of the Fort as we speak. The Lady at Mcgintys Ordinary was telling them about the history of that cabin you were in. She explains it on my video. I toured the Fort after the parade. The attack was going to be the next day after my second visit. I was waiting for #DillonCarmichaels concert. My main reason for visiting the state was to visit my ancestors graves. So why not absorb the history? My mind was “swimming”!!! ❤ I loved coming down here. Gonna have to visit Ky again. It’s gorgeous. Gotta keep making videos! Keep up the good work friend.
Hey, thank ya! Yeah, there is a crazy amount of history here, and I keep finding more!
I was through there in August and discovered the Oden Fish Hatchery which is just a couple of miles to the West. Looks to have some nice nature walks, that I didn't have the time to explore, but also a small exhibit in a train car showing how they used to transport fish to stock lakes.
Hey Dan..... I will have to check that out next time we are up there! Thanks!
I'd bypass the Grand Hotel and view it from a distance. I love visiting Mackinac Island. It is very historical and a beautiful place to visit.
Yeah, the more I think about it..... I agree. I know some people will want to "see" it, up close. But, your time could be better spent elsewhere on the island.
Is the play kid friendly? I would like to take my 9 year old daughter
HHhhmmm. Maybe. There ARE some death scenes....... When I was 9 I think I would have ben OK with it, but..... I might call the theater for more on that question. A couple of thoughts. You could sit towards the back away from the action. Also, you can go to the theater and just watch the movie that is showing on the grounds at the same time. I would say that the haunted trail part of the evening might be a bit much for a sensitive youngster. If your daughter is artsy and interested in theater, this place has an incredible set up, and the overall experience here is simply magical. The experience here is truly one of a kind. Let me know what you decide and how it goes.
I’ve been a long time customer of theirs for a little over 10 years! I love their shops and the owners are great.
Yeah, this place is just special..... I like the feel of Union City in general (still small town and country) and Higher Ground is such a great place, in a great little town. The coffee, staff, and just general vibe were perfect!
Thanks for the video and the kind words. Two mistakes: #1-the circle layout was done away with in the 1830s, not the 1930s, and #2- the locals say "Pumpkin Show", not "Pumpkin Festival." Does this matter? Only to native Circlevillians and absolutely no one else. Like another commenter said, most of the fun things we remember from the past in Circleville are gone: the downtown theater (The Grand Theater), the local swimming pool (Ted Lewis Park pool), the local drive-in theaters (2), the youth canteen located downtown, and the Gallagher Drugs store where we went after school. I left in 1960 (after high school) and have been back maybe 10 times. The house I grew up in is still there, and I could prove to the current residents that I once lived there. How? I would go to the basement door, open it, and show them my sister's and mine growth marks. They were carved into the door.
Thanks for the corrections and recollections Bob! Interesting place with an interesting past!
Neat little ferry, putting this on my bucket list. Cheers.
Thanks! Yeah, you need to do it!
Not a great place if you are an introvert/private person.
Good video
Thanks
Has the real Circleville Ohio letter writer been discovered? Or has s/he died? It wasn't Paul Freshour.
Im not sure.... I need to look in to that!
jimerado, amazing video keep up the good content
Hey, thanks! I am pretty proud of the cave tour videos I post!
I also went there during 2023 in Indiana. It's really a good experience!❤
YES! VERY cool place!
This place looks ammmmmmazing. Wanted to go back to the Dunes for a loooooong. So darn cold and couldnt enjoy myself when i went.
That can happen in Michigan for sure! We were in the same area a year earlier in May, and it was snowing.
You would have loooooved Lamberts. So good. One in Florida too.
Yeah, we should have planned things better. I will next time!
@jimerado2150 Have yall ever been to Patties Settlement Restaurant. Wanting to go, but about 2.5 hours from the Boro. Supposed to be fabulous.
@@Mhazelwood4 Its been several years since I was there last, but I did enjoy it.
Ive been watching your videos off and on for two years. Im from Owensboro, Kentucky too. Ive watched like 10 of them today while off with Covid. Also, miss our Shoneys.
Sorry ya have Covid! and, thanks for watching! I haven't lived there really since the mid 90s, and I don't get there much anymore, but it was a great place to grow up. I went to Apollo. When I come back these days, I do enjoy the newer coffee shops that have popped up, like the Spot. When I was younger, I loved the old Lincoln Mall.
@jimerado2150 MIss our mall too. Sad for sure, but has went the way of most all of them now.
It’s beautiful
YES!
David Hocker’s greed helped destroy the Mall.
A friend of mine works with volunteers to have a weekly movie night at the Pope Lick park not too far (I think that's it at 2:08). I think they also do a Halloween night with films related to the Pope Lick Monster. By the way, was the guy's name Rodney? Did he have glasses and red hair?
Yeah, pretty sure thats the guy. 'been hoping to make it back there for one of those movies!
I love everthing
Hah! Maybe I said "I hate snakes" too many times.
If you come back, try to take the tour. The most fascinating part of those buildings isn't the part you've seen. It's the all the tunnels under the buildings that connect to Building 50. Especially the main tunnel which is a huge brick arch. The tour did take people to part of the tunnel system, so I'm hoping that's still part of the tour. Prior to Building 50 being saved from demolition and the building started to turn it into a mixed use space, the locals loved exploring those tunnels. There was access from the outside since the structure was in bad shape back then. The teens and 20 plus young people loved exploring those tunnels during the night with flash lights. Once the remodeling started and structure repairs were made to keep it safe, the access was cut off from all our local explorers LOL 😂 Great video. Thanks for sharing it with us. 😊
Thanks, and thanks for the interesting info.... Yes, I am itching to get back for some more exploring..... We WERE back in the area a couple of months ago, and planned on stopping by, but our trip was retooled.... We are HOPING to be back within a year or so.
I transferred from KCMO in 1976 and was there until 1994 when I built a new House in Scott County, took over the Satellite Office in New Madrid, two blocks behind the levy. There use to be a ferry landing east of Portageville. I had relatives living in New Madrid at the time of the earthquake. My main office was in Sikeston and dined at Lamberts a few times, it's always crowded as tour buses stop there regularly.
Interesting..... I really like this area, it grows on me. As I mentioned in the video.... we stopped by Lamberts but passed, as the wait was long, and our time on this trip was limited. We will make it back another day.
Lived in New Salisbury most of my life New Salisbury has Bryants blueberries one of last you pick blueberry fields over 50 rows and many varieties. It's definitely worth a visit in the early to mid summer months. One other thing, the little restaurant in the heart of town " Dairy dip" has some really good food and is pretty reasonably priced. I would give that place a try. There pizzas and bbq are amazing!
Thanks for that info! I hope to get back in the near future!
My friends and I ride the Harleys from West Tennessee up to Hickman to take the ferry across the Mississippi River when we ride to Lambert's Cafe.
Oh, that sounds fun!
I grew up in west union, i wish i could move back there, but the only way i'll ever be able to get back there is when i die!!! I miss west union and i think about it a lot, especially in my teens in the 80s ( the best era ever) cruising town, just having fun. I wish we could go back to those times, and i wish west union would stop trying to be something it will never be, and that's a big city. It looks really stupid now, it would've been nice if they would've stayed what they were. A small town in southern ohio I really do miss it a lot, and i guess i always will, that's where my heart is. And my thoughts to seems like all the time
What a great town to live in
I enjoyed my visit!
I grew up here and I love to call this town my home
It is a nice place!
50W used to be the main branch for Huntington National Bank in town. They took it over a few years back. And, if you want to experience some of the best donuts in your life, go to Crispie Creme. 47 N Bridge St.
thanks for the info and suggestion!
Battle of okolona
I live there
It is a nice area!
Nice 🙂. If im looking at the map correctly, this is a northbound on the same line where the Andrew's Raid took place.
Hey Dan! Yeah, it kind of gives you goosebumps thinking about it. The General and other related Raid sites are nearby too!
@@jimerado2150 On my 2019, I looked into that, but things were just a little too out of the way to work. I did stop in Chattanooga and check out the monument in the national cemetery.
Trip, that is supposed to be 2019 trip.
Next time go up on the bluff so you can see the harbor and then drive or walk through Wequetonsing, which is a summer community at the east side of town along the water.
I will try to get back up there!
I live in Columbia
Very nice area!
