Problem with Japan is that they don't want to acknowledge their horrific & cruel acts or defeat. Even though they started World War 2 & lost they portray themselves as a victim not as a perpetrator. This is why they are not respected in Asia.

Kojiro was 60 years old at the time of the duel, not the young man described in Yoshikawa's novel which most TH-cam videos seem to draw their 'facts' from. Musashi claims to have won 60 duels, but through out his life he only mentions 3 names of those he fought. The whole legend of Musashi wobbles when you start looking into the actual fact. Prof Alex Bennett has written a great book on the subject and a small booklet was published years ago by the International Budo uni. in Katsuura.

In both Japan and Europe it was not unusual for both combatants to die in the duel or for the "Winner "to later die of his wounds or infection. For Musashi to engage in as many duels as he did and die a very old man is truly incredible.

Was well ahead of his time to use mindgames that have become common practice in todays modern combat sport !! For this although it goes against the bushido is like any other evolutionary process that takes things forward . It may not be fair but like everything else in life its just buisness ! And in order for a buisness to survive it has to continually move forward often in ways tgat are not deemed ethical or fair .
