Is that not dangerous with the fumes of gas ? Using a grinder
I ordered the new hose but I gotta get to school for 2-3 days so I’m wrapping mine in duct tape and coating it with flex seal should workmgood
If you had taken out the middle plenum, it would have made it much easier to work and get the injectors out. But yeah, toasted engine. Sorry bro.
If you have bore score a proper full rebuild of the car engine cost around 30.000 $€£... But then you get practically speaking a new better engine bored up with more horsepower that will not get bore score again. Many that get bore score do the quick and "cheep" fix paying 1/5 of a proper build which will make the car run for a short while until next cylinder also get bore score... So they do that and sell the car so the next victim has to deal with that.
I’m doing the same on my bike found it for $25
You can buy a used engine have it installed for way less then 16000
Porsche couldn't even fit a new window regulator correctly. Ditching the dealer was the most liberating day of my life. I wouldn't trust them with any important tasks AT ALL.
Hope you can get it working! Subscribed
I have a 1999 Boxter that I’ve owned for 18 years. 106,000 Miles. Over the years I had to replace different parts that were old and needed replacing. There are always different parts that will continue to get replaced. Porsche Boxter no matter what anyone says, it’s a beautiful fun car to drive. My opinion is for you to make it a hobby car, fix it and make it pretty. For the $1,000 you spent on the purchase, it’s worth it. TH-cam has all the videos you need to fix it.
Lol I have heater hoes leakage and I was desperately following your guidance but disappointed to see none of them works
Not big deal! Buy the tools and do the job yourself
What pedal you used for the dbw?
Bike is a 1971 TR6R Tiger
Great bike. Its probably not a Bonneville with the single carb, but I actually like the single carb TR6 better than the Bonnie. Easier to maintain and they ride a little nicer in my opinion. Did you change the gear oil and primary oil as well as the engine oil?
Ok I'm just a guy in the comments but you'll get way more views if you edit some of this content and start posting to tiktok. Make a story out of this situation but focus on the most drastic parts of the purchase and situation. You'll need some revenue to cover the costs of the build and on youtube that will take forever for you to start getting ad revenue. Tiktok gives you a chance to go viral if you post once a day. A video like this 60 seconds long explaining how your new car is broke and now cost $16k to fix... its gonna go viral if you make the first 15 seconds of the video interesting and go for about 30-60 seconds explaining the story. Then keep up with short updates daily. Anyone else reading this same goes for you if you have a nice car. Wont work for a 2000 honda civic. This boxster story is very interesting because of the cost to repair the damage.
thanks so much for the tips! im really just winging it hah and yea i have thought about doing tiktok but i havent really invested time into doing it .. and the way you explained it makes sense and i feel like it could be interesting to see a video like this in super short content..
That's not a Bonneville with that head on it.
For an extra$2,000 you would have an MX5 that would run fault less for the next 10 years
i totally agree ..i bought a great running miata for 600 bucks hah and it would definitely be easier to do a head gasket on .. but i really dig porsches too
Could also be a cracked/failed cylinder liner. I would go for a replacement engine, probably cheaper in the long run. Good luck!
Does that Kawasaki fuel tank hold up with the JB Weld fix? It's been 4 years now and I would like to know if it worked.
haha wow its been a while and no it did not hold up well .. but it was super rotten .. i bet it would plug a small hole really well for a long time
@@Backtooem Thanks for the reply. The tank of my 1992 Yamaha Ténéré 660 have a couple of small holes in the bottom, each side and it's driving me nuts to fix it. I think I'll give this a try. Thanks again. ✌️
very nice!! i would try the liquid jb weld that comes in 2 tubes and you mix it together .. i feel like it works better.. good luck!!
I'm not an expert but I'm not sure that is a Bonneville? Bonnies had twin amal carbs not a single Mikuni or Keihine To make sure have a look at the engine number stamped on the left side under the barrels, Sounds as though it needs a good tune up by someone who knows their way around old British bikes No insult intended
yea some people mentioned that its probably not a bonneville hah it does have a single amal and when i first started it i didnt have both spark plug wires in so thats probably why it sounded a bit off ..but yea it wouldnt hurt to get it with someone that deals with these bikes on the daily
Cool video. Good luck.
thanks
Part it out bro people in the U.K go crazy for parts .
yea i heard these engines are hard to find but i think i wanna fix it and take it to a track ha
Idk. Never taken my 996 to a shop yet but when I work on it I swear it would be best to drop the engine to work on it. Fun stuff! Make some cradles and drop the engine my dude.
i want to own a 996 soon they are so cool and yea i have to just do it haha it just suck spending like 500 on jack stands and a trans jack .. but it will get done for sure
I sold my 2002 Boxster S even tho it was running well and no major issues because of the fear of future repairs. Bought a 75 Vette and am amazed at how cheap parts are. Boxster is a beautiful and amazing car. But wow. Scary to own for a normal person.
yea its a bit scary to own but i feel like i can do the head gaskets if i had the correct tools haha i just need to buy some tall jack stands and a trans jack .. and i love corvettes i want to get a convertible black c4 those look sick
@@Backtooem yah my son has a 1984 C4 and he kinda convinced me to sell the Boxster and join the ranks of Jean shorts and new balance tennis shoes 😅. It’s been good so far! Sure more fun to work on and about the same fun to drive.
The single carb version is a Tiger (TR6) they are less common than the Bonneville.
nice thanks for the info.. im learning more and more about this bike hah
Did bro js say the aura from the Motercycle 😭😭😭🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
y is bro hating hah
Nice, but still a long way to go. Its running on one cylinder.
haha yea when i started it i only had one wire connected .. im not sure if you can see it on the video but when i was taking it out i noticed that .. and thats impressive that you noticed that just from the sound
@@Backtooem Yeh, you really notice the difference in the throttle response when its running properly on two cylinders - the revs pick up MUCH faster
@@paulwoods682 They were the busa of their day back when they first came out in 1959!!!
For $1000 invested drain the oil, refill with walmart oil non synthetic and filter, buy a bottle or two of RED DEVIL head gasket leak fix, follow the instructions to a T. And watch it fix the head gasket leak. Did this to a Ford Windstar and got another full year of running perfect out if it. Or just buy a good used engine for $2,500 and swap it out
You got yourself a runner! Nice job, take care of her.
Thanks, will do!
Suggest getting a copy of the Works Manual. Parts availability is good through people like CBS. Don't expect too much from the brakes ! Good luck.
yea i need to get a manual someone said i drained it from the wrong place haha thanks
You drained the oil from the crank case but not from the from tube, that's why it overflowed..there's a drain plug under the frame tube aswell..nice bike..👍
haha thanks for the info .. to tell you the truth i dont know much about triumphs
@@Backtooem These OIF (Oil in Frame) models started in 1970/71 and usually wet sump. Look for specific manuals
$127!! I just picked up a 76 for $1300. Thought that was a good deal. You can't fid them for much less around here. Nice deal!
well i bought it for 300 and spent 127 in parts to get it running haha but still a good deal
@@Backtooem you would be lucky to get one in the UK for 3k GBP! fill yourself a container and get them exported over!
When Murphys law doesn't join the party, it's always a good day.👏👏
yea i love when everything goes right
Sorry about the bad luck!
thanks haha hopefully i can fix it in my garage
Check the air/oil separator first before the head gasket. After that check the AOS and the coils for cracks. Old coils cause many misfires. The head gasket would be lower on my list of possible causes, especially at that low miles.
It a 1987 first year made.
Air oil separator can cause white smoke on start up
YO dog man I took a chance on buying a lexus engine I was lucky 😂😅😊
That's just the beginning you need tons of work you need a new engine power
hah yea if i had the money i would put a gt3 engine in it
Btw I forgot to mention to you, those rims (turbo twist) alone go for $1000-$3000 depending on condition and size. 18 inch turbo twist in very good condition easily go for $2500 if not more. So $1000 for the car is a steal!
nice thats good to hear .. i know it has alot of parts that are worth some money hah .. i just wanna take it for a long drive
Those are basic boxster twist wheels (base wheels) and are not the same as the 17" and 18" turbo twist wheels that were optional...they are not worth much honestly.
Mate - Porsches are actually very straightforward to work on. However, you do have to approach them in they way they were designed to be worked on which means doing a little research first rather than barrelling straight in. There are things that you can access from the panel behind the front seats, and by removing the rear wheels access is very straight forward. There are not many things in the repair / maintenance of a Boxster that necessitates a full engine removal. Also if fuel is leaking into the cylinder its going to very quickly cause issues with scoring the cylinder walls - even with a 986 - which would not normally suffer.
i agree hah sometimes instead of doing research i just assume i know how to do it..i really dont think that porsche intentionally make it hard to work on it .. they just do what they have to do because of packaging ..but i really think if you were going to do injectors on this car and you had a car lift.. it would take less time to take the engine out to do it haha there is so little room that it took me 30 min to connect the connector on the front driver injector just reaching my hand in and doing it blind..and hopefully the cylinder bore is not scored haha fingers crossed .. thanks for the insight
I want to see more episodes so for the love of god put a jack stand underneath the car.
haha ok i think i did have jack stands in the video but thanks for the advice sometimes i do have bad jack stand etiquette
👍👏👏👏👏👏
thanks!!
Great job
thanks!
save the car!!
yea im gonna save it hah .. thanks for the motivation!! i appreciate it
Sorry to hear that man!! Can't wait to see how you figure it out bro These cars are worth saving!
Btw you should definitely look up “common problems” for that car and year. I’ve seen other YT videos all with the same problem for the 996. It might be the same problem for this car since they’re the same year
thanks and yea i will investigate further haha anything to not take out the engine
Subbed…fix and film the car and any other Porsche you get your hands on. Looking forward to watching. Best of luck 🙏✝️
PART IT OUT = BUY A TURBO SUBARU !
hey man why do you want me to have more head gasket problems?? haha
It may not be the head gasket. Those cars have a part where cooland and oil run side to side. When it goes bad, the oil gets milky. I'd recommend you chek that out first. JR garage has a few videos about it. Boxters smoking and how they fix them without need of dropping the head.
yea i have seen a couple of comments saying that about the oil cooler so yea it could definitely be that hah thanks for the tip
