    Hi, I was Looking for Georgia to Russia and pop up your video, is there any bus service for border crossing? and how was your border crossing experience, let me know i am planning a same route

    • @nomadz-wheretheroadtakesus
      @nomadz-wheretheroadtakesus 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes there is a bus from Tbilisi to Vladikavkaz. We saw two going through. The border crossing is quite a long experience. In total 8 hours for us. If you go by bus it will be much quicker. You need to exit the bus with your luggage, go through customs and then board again. They really search everything and every bag.

      @nomadz-wheretheroadtakesus A suggestion for entering Russia from Georgia. Make a short story of who you, why are you entering Russia and where you are going. You can use any translation app to change it to Russian. Our biggest problem was the language and them not understanding what we are coming to do in Russia. Second issue was us trying to explain that we come from South Africa and yes we are white. They thought we were Ukrainians trying to enter Russia as South Africans must be black. If you have a big rig, you have to enter through the truck section on the Russian side. You wont be able to make your turn through the vehicle section

    • @nomadz-wheretheroadtakesus
      @nomadz-wheretheroadtakesus 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The border from Georgia to Russia is very long. We arrived at 06h15 in the morning at the border. Big rigs can drive all the way to the front and exit via the "Cars" section. Once through you drive to the Russian border where you are stopped at a gate. At this gate you will receive a white piece of paper (A25 size) in duplicate. Big rigs have to go to the truck lane, as you wont be able to turn in the "Cars" section. While you are in the queue, fill in this document in duplicate! When you get to the front, you have to exit your vehicle and go to one of the booths with your passports, vehicle registration and those two pieces of paper. Here they will ask you why you are there, where you are going, Here is where the translation of your story would help, as there are basically nobody that speaks English or German. If all ok, you will be asked to drive your vehicle forward and it then gets inspected. Get ready to open all your bins. Once they are satisfied, they will give you another piece of paper to proof that you have been inspected. If not, you'll go to the Special office where you have to answer a couple of questions about who you are, where did you work, what is the purpose of your visit and where you are going to stay in Russia. If all ok, you will need to pull your vehicle out of the inspection bay. Park somewhere and then walk around to the "Car" section. Go to window 1 and ask for the temporary importation papers. Make sure that you get 3 pieces of documents. One must be in duplicate. Do not answer N/A but rather answer the question in the negative. EG. No, I do not own property in Russia. (You might have to force your way to the front to get the papers. Once you have filled them in, bring them back to window one and fall into the queue. Only the driver needs to be there. They will ask for the Proof of Inspection paper. (Rather take all your docs with you). If you make a mistake, ask for a new set. They will send you back. Remember to fill in any hotel as your address. But remember, your story must make sense. Once you have your TIP, you may exit the customs area. At the exit gate, they will take the proof of Inspection paper. Remember those 2 pieces of paper you received upon entering? You will now only have one. Protect that as if it is Gold. Every time you get stopped at a road block, they cant read German or English, but once they see that little piece of paper, they let us go. When you exit the gate, you drive about two hundred meters and find a lot of shops on your right hand side. Go to Office number 7 for your sim and insurance. The lady speaks English. I hope this helps.

    Hello from Norway - I saw you where there last year. Thanks for sharing this. Have a nice trip. PS: You know you can drive from the Norwegian - Russia border all the way to the Russia - North Korea border? Check google maps. So it is very interesting to see you on this road trip in Siberia - Russia. And specially now, when it is war time. So because of the war, was it more difficult to get visa for this road trip?

    • @nomadz-wheretheroadtakesus
      @nomadz-wheretheroadtakesus 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your comments. The original plan was to travel through Sweden and Norway and then exit through Finland into Russia, but due to the war, that was not possible. Being a South African, we don't need a visa for Russia, so that made it quite easy to enter. But I have British friends who had difficulty getting a Russian visa.

      Roeleen, the heading says that the video covers our travel from Meteorite Rest Camp close to Grootfontein to the rest camp at Kamanjab, called Oppikoppi. We do not state that the Meteorite Rest is at Kamanjab.

    • @nomadz-wheretheroadtakesus
      @nomadz-wheretheroadtakesus ปีที่แล้ว

      I have listened to my commentary again, and we clearly states that we are leaving the Hoba Crater to travel to the Waterberg. At 00:32 we show clearly that we are at the Hoba Meteorite site. At 1:19 I narrated that we have left Hoba and is on our way South West through the Waterberg Escarpment. At 14:29 we arrive at Kamanjab, Oppikoppi. I hope that this clears our statement and that you made an incorrect allegation.

    Can you do the skeleton trip on the beech, and did you drop your tyre pressure whe you did the sand road

    • @nomadz-wheretheroadtakesus
      @nomadz-wheretheroadtakesus 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The skeleton trip you have to stay on the road, and you have to exit the same day. There are organised trips, but expensive. On the salt road, its the same as asphalt/tar. You can keep your tyre pressures as normal. When driving sand, I take my pressure down to 3bar, or even lower if the sand is deep. Remember that I drive a 10t truck camper. (this road can be done with a 2x4)

  • @wernerstruebing116

    For riverbeds the tires need deflated even more

    • @nomadz-wheretheroadtakesus

      The tyres were 3 bar. Normally 7 bar. Yes I could have gone lower, but the dry sand was only 3cm thick. Underneath was wet sand. So we decided that it is not worth it.
