Gun Control? Sure, War Criminal, Genocidal Government. YOU FIRST!
One-sided gun control has historically led to some of the most brutal exterminations. My answer to government calls for gun control will always be, “You fucking first!”

Why does #CorporateAmerica HATE Bernie Sanders?
มุมมอง 664 ปีที่แล้ว
If you aren’t aware, you should be. There’s been a corporate coup-in-slow-motion going on in the United States since the Depression, as corporate executives plotted to overthrow the government in 1927. Look it up. Now, almost every tentacle of government has been captured by private ownership through neoliberal policies imposed by neofascist shills to oligarchs & plutocrats. It’s little wonder ...

    Wikipedia says it was originally played faster, then slowed down afterward.

      Anybody can edit Wikipedia and it's loaded with feds pushing the (patsy) Chapman "lone nut" cover-up of the assassination of Lennon. So, while some info on it can be correct, it's not a credible source. The backing tracks on Revolver were often slowed down (i.e. 'Rain') when vocals were added. The vocals on the released version had the vocal track speed up significantly and the backing track slowed down. Here, the recording is pitched down to hear not only their natural singing voices but several mixes (mono & stereo) with all of the backwards guitar edits added.

    I suppose next to arrive in the endless parade of "new " Beatles product will be an expanded "Artists' Cut" version of A Hard Day's Night including all the deleted music footage and remastered and enhanced audio/video (such as fixing the speed/pitch issue here)

      I hope so. Today I also found the "prologue" to the 1982 theatrical re-release. A photo montage set to the longer mono version of I'll Cry Instead. It looks great but the sound is pretty bad. Still worth it, but I'd love a top quality copy.

    With all due respect to the brave men that courageously fought in Vietnam, what does this have to do with that? This song is about The Troubles in Northern Ireland.

    • @init4fun
      @init4fun ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s for every conflict. The artist was apparently using his life experience, as it’s the same anywhere. There is no legitimate reason for any war, and those behind them know this more than anyone.

    • @roguebot6132
      @roguebot6132 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@init4fun oh no, I couldn’t disagree more. This particular song is about as specific as art will ever get. Most times the artist will find inspiration from something they’re familiar with, but their work is often left open for interpretation. That is not the case here, this is the exception. I could list dozens of lyrical and musical choices JT made here that are directly related to this conflict and only this conflict. I also strongly disagree with your thoughts on war. Obviously, war (and all violence fwiw) should be avoided at every possible cost. Literally every possible solution must be explored and explored with the most sincere due diligence. But, time has shown us over and over again, man is a very difficult animal-politically speaking. No matter how many reasonable men try to reach a solution, some men can not be reached, period. Those are the occasions where violence and war become necessary. Unless you are totally cool with Fascists steamrolling the globe in the 1930s and 40s, killing and torturing innocent civilians, then you will surely see there are times where war is the only choice. This conflict Taylor wrote about here is extremely complex. It’s been around for roughly 800 years, and while the face of this conflict has changed greatly over that time, it was always about Liberty, equal rights of individuals and the freedom to practice one’s religion without persecution. This was never going to be settled without violence, it’s just far too complex. Luckily, the people of Northern Ireland are now able to settle their future via political discourse, free from outside influence. Again, no slight meant to Vietnam Veterans. I have a great deal of respect for those men and their enormous sacrifice. It was just about the choice of this song. It’s not an anti-war anthem. It’s a pro-peace anthem, a very specific one that wants to bury those rifles for good, in the name of peace and progress, not because their use was not justified.

    There is a reason why this is my favorite Tom Waits song. When I was a college student, we were very poor. I worked at this small restaurant as a closer. The restaurant served alcohol so it closed at 2am. When cleaning up and getting ready for next day were done, it was almost to 3am. Pay sucked and work was hard. Only thing that got me going was thinking about my wife, whom I knew would wake up from her sleep to welcome me home. I literally couldn't wait to get off work and see my baby every night. Now I have a better job. We can even take a short vacation every now and then with our son. I still miss my wife whenever I'm at work though.
