Join us for our first sailing of our new to us Gozzard 44 sailboat “Adagio.” We sail south from Fort Pierce Fl on to Lake Worth Inlet, Fl. We are still new to sailing a vessel of this size and are exited to learn and grow our confidence level. Adagio is a cutter rig vessel.

SAILING: The art of slowly going nowhere at great expense.
New subscriber sends Greetings from Tucson, Arizona. Thanks for the excellent video. I've been lookin' for 'bout a year and kind'a decided on a Nauticat 44 or the Gozzard - LUV the Gozzard's interior and profile..like a little pirate ship. After two years, are y'all still happy with your beautiful boat?
It is really hard to put a boat through it's paces with so little wind. What would she be like beating to weather in 15 knots with bumpy seas?
We have since put a few miles under her with different winds and sea state. She needs 15 knots to be an enjoyable day. We sail out of Fort Pierce offshore, bumpy seas and beating is part of it at times. She is easy to reef as need, but not until low to mid 20’s. She is Grand!
I am considering IP as well as a Goddard, why did you choose the Goddard over a IP? Thanks...
I really like the IP and looked at a few! We chose the Gozzard over the IP because it was better outfitted for less money and the wife loved the Gozzard. I still stop and gaze at the IP boats in the marina, but I love our Gozzard as well!
More sailboat videos please! Love that Gozzard😊
it's Gozzard or Cabo Rico...
Adagio is a Gozzard 44
@@richadventuresdoneright9771 yes, of course. I meant to say that these two boats are on about the same level of quality construction.
Beautiful boat with a practical blue water design. They are one of my favorite boats. 👍👍
Very nice video great pictures . You both are very happy . I hope to go exploring with our Hunter 260 . It is a great boat
We had so many good adventures in ours! Best of Luck!
What's a good price for one of these?
Great vid!
Thanks, what a cool trip for a Southern boy!
Hi! Just found your channel (and watching through the Gozzard 44 vids)...we're about to buy a Gozzard 36 so I'm very interested in your haul and sea trial...that's coming up for us! I'm on the east coast of FL for a few more weeks (visiting) not far from you actually. Normally up in the northeast.
Congratulations! We love our Gozzard! Such a well built yacht!
So you made the ultimate decision. What's next! Off shore, Coastal crusing? How are you going to use your new acquisition? regards and fair winds always
We have big thoughts but we are still working on the plan. World cruising would be amazing but life happens. At this point, still trying to figure it out.
We did just get back from a month in the Abacos and loved it!
For such a nice boat and the obvious level of well-deserved pride in it, I'm amazed there is not a video tour of it so we can actually see it in detail instead of just quick glimpses of it. I think the boat is awesome, I would love to see a video tour.
Thank you for the kind thoughts! A tour will come, we are currently Re-Upholstering all of the cushions.
So happy for thee two of you.
Thank you! We are really enjoying Adagio.😁
Look for after market accessories for the Milwaukee Pack Out system. Lots of mounting and storage options.
Thanks for the tip. Will do🙂
Sweet! That's a sweet little skiff!
🤪Thanks
Can’t wait to watch your episodes
Likewise, we will be tuning in!
hi there!
Hello! I gotcha
Hate when sellers say “not going to negotiate “.
Good info! We invested 14 minutes and we needed more celebratory video... you guys basking in the cool!!!
Thank you, we have our first cruise to the Bahamas that we need to share! We have been busy tidying up life so we can do the dream!
Love your new boat
Thank you!
Nice boat. Love these and the Cherubini's
What year is the Adagio?
She is a 1994 hull number 3
At about the 9 minute mark do you remember what the wind speed was and how fast your were going?
Sorry, I don’t remember. Normally when we have been out, the winds have been in the high teens to mid twenties. Depending on our point of sail, we usually are moving between 5.5 knots and 7.5 knots.
We are looking to buy this exact boat, they are made within a couple of hours of our home. I am interested to hear what you have to say about every detail. I have subscribed.
Hey Paula, we love Adagio! I’m glad you are finding the videos interesting. I am behind on posting new videos as life is hectic for us at the moment. If you have questions about the boat, I would be glad to try and answer them.
Congratulation. Good sailing and learning.
Thank you!😁
Did you put those copper pipes on ?
Yes, I had to extend them to work.
I realize they will corrode at some point. I guess I will visit that in the near future!
@@richadventuresdoneright9771 Great video Rich ! Yeah they should be Cupronickel or even wire reinforced hose would work so it wouldn't collapse in the tight turn . Keep an eye , wouldn't want to ruin any of that lovely wood work. Fair winds
She is one beautiful vessel. Congratulations. I was following this boat for months, and wanted to make an offer. Unfortunately, due to Covid I did not (I am kicking myself in the rear on this). You have a tremendous vessel to enjoy for many, many years. Good luck and best wishes to you. May your winds be fair and at your back. Use her in good heath.
Thank you so much for the comments.
I was watching, and dreaming of, this beauty for awhile. Then saw it sold. Now I’ll be following along to live vicariously through you. All the best
Thank you! We feel very fortunate to be a caretaker of her and can’t wait to learn, grow, and trust her!
I must ask, you’ve had this lady for a while; what’s your review of her today?
She’s a Brick…House! I’m Amazed at her build quality! Can’t wait to spend more time on the water to learn her characteristics!
That’s a nice big cockpit….so when do we get a boat tour?
Thanks for the comments. The cockpit is huge and we love the outdoor living space it provides. The large helm station creates the needed support for passage making.
Boat tour will come in due time. We aren’t on the boat full time yet, and making videos is a pretty good challenge. I’m in the learning curve with a Long way to go!
Man……thats got to be a shock going from 26’ to almost 50’
The biggest shocker is maneuvering the boat in around the marina and other vessels. We have to watch the tide and wind before we make our move in or out of the marina. We are getting a little more comfortable as we practice.
Morning, Rich! Nice sail!
Hi Rich, Just subscribed. I love Gozzard Sailboats! Got to meet the owner/co-owner of Gozzard sailboats at the Annapolis Sailboat show several years ago. They were selling a beautiful used 38 - 40 foot (length?) boat that they refurbished at their boat yard. The wood working was incredible on that boat. Long story short the boat is out of my price range, so I get to live through your adventure! After watching your AC install video, I was wondering what your mechanical background is? You make it look so easy, which it is not!! Thanks, Glenn
Thank you for the interest and comments. I must confess, I am a heating and air conditioning contractor by trade. Although, these units come self contained and fully charged. The difficulty in installation is from the confined space in which it’s installed. It does take some plumbing, electrical, and mechanical abilities which I’m sure I take for granted after years of experience. I’m really impressed with the Gozzard design and build quality inside and out. I really didn’t think it was in my price range just a year or two ago. Set your goals and stay focused, you may be pleasantly surprised! Best of Luck!
Sorry to interrupt but I really think for most sailors a gozzard 44 is a superyacht..... congratulations super couple.supersailing.....superyacht....
Thank you for the comments. We are super pleased with Adagio. She has looks, style, and quality for years! She is superbly designed as a cruising couples yacht.!
Well I think you picked an awesome boat ....a real Canadian Dream Eh!!!!! Best Of Luck to ya ....
We agree! Thanks for your input!
From the famous designer of the Bayfield, better to buy a boat designed by someone that knows how to design fast boats, like Doug Peterson who designed the Peterson 44
If you haven’t had the pleasure of stepping aboard a Gozzard 44, I would recommend you do, as the build quality is incredible! It’s performance is up to par for a heavy cruiser. The Peterson 44 is a fine boat with good accommodations, somewhat faster than the Gozzard, no doubt because of the Peterson narrow beam. I wouldn’t call it fast! If a fast cruiser interests you, then take a look at the Najad 440 with a PHRF of 57! Check out sailing RAN on TH-cam. Thanks for the comment.
Awesome, in today's world I don't know how to say this but here we go :) you have the perfect women to have a perfect life on the water....Just saying....
Well said!
Ahoy.! Just subscribed to your Chanel... congratulations on your beautiful ship! Was wonder what is the length over all and if you are comfortable with telling us how much did you pay? We are land lock sailors from Alberta... hoping to retire on the water (:-)) we look forward to seeing how you guys are doing with repairs and taking her in your first big voyage. Oh and what’s her name?
Welcome, and thank you for the kind words. Her name is Adagio. The previous owner named her and we are excited to have her. She is 51 feet overall, not counting the dinghy davits.
It's gorgeous
Nice video! ⚓️⛵️
Glad you liked it! Thank you!
I went from a 30 ft boat to a 46 ft overall. I was terrified leaving the slip the first season . A year later I am a pro at leaving . You have a great boat there . You will get used to the length . Good luck guys
Thank you for the encouraging testimony. We have taken it off the dock with great results. She turns very well in tight spaces. We are very pleased.
Beautiful indeed
Thank you! She is solid and heavy also!
So nice to hear you both recount and reflect on this process... congrats
Thank you so much!
So, I clicked on your video as I live in Goderich, Ontario, where your boat was built. I enjoyed watching and listening to your honest commentary about the somewhat overwhelming decision making process. You two strike me as decent down to earth, good people and I just wanted to say congratulations. That’s a solid well built boat and I hope you have wonderful adventures on it!
Thank you for the kind words, we are loving it so far!
Good luck, great purchase and beautiful boat, looking forward to the next video, hopefully a full tour. If you need some weekend deckhands, we are local and available!
Thank you for the kind reply! After a Lot of clean up and organizing we will do a full tour!
Congratulations, you got yourself a real boat.
Thanks, we feel lucky to have her!
Awesome video!! Can’t wait to see more!!
Thank you!!
Just what the Hunter 260 was designed for. A great vacation cruise a long way from home. Well done!
We’ve traveled many miles with the Hunter. What great fun!
Yes Robert you did good! We really enjoy ours! Thanks for a great design.
Looks great David!
