Loving cats, huh? Anyone who doesn't promote spaying and neutering does not love cats! If you are promoting breeding cats, you do not love cats! We are in the midst of an overpopulation crisis of cats and dogs. Animals are being sent fee-free, nowadays, into the hands of who knows who. "Loving cats" means you do what is best for them--not for yourself. With the terrible overpopulation crisis we don't see low-cost spay/neuter happening to any degree. In fact, the veterinarians keep upping their prices and many people put their animals to sleep because they can't afford the extreme high price of vet care. The huge animal groups (Mass.Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals/MSPCA/Boston, Animal Rescue League/Boston, ASPCA/New York, HSUS (Humane Society of the United States) need to have huge spay/neuter campaigns and somehow figure out how to do FEE-FREE Spay/Neuter--not Fee-free animals!!! The great Bob Barker (now deceased) used to say at the end of his show, The Price is Right: TO CONTROL ANIMAL OVERPOPULATION GET YOUR PETS SPAYED OR NEUTERED. Spay/neuter needs to be front and center--that is the only way to get overpopulation under control--adoption only is not the answer!!!

Very interesting and informative! Thank you! As one owned by a Seal Point Siamese (meezer), I am curious. These beauties were so popular for so long (like the Best of Show Persian-- gorgeous!) and now I rarely see them. I know there is a push to distinguish the traditional Meezer and the Modern. My question is: do expert cat fanciers see a general decline in popularity? Are the traditional Meezers in danger of extinction? Thank you.

He is right about the Sphinx cat. In the mid 90s I got a girl Sphinx. 3 weeks later I went back and got a boy. They are wonderful cats.
