Hiking and trail running in the Northeast US. Currently at 26/50 U.S. highpoints, goal to complete all 50.
Slieve Donard
Ran Slieve Donard, highest point of Northern Ireland (UK), back in August. Poor conditions with a lot of fog and crazy wind. Saw some wild horses. Generally not as difficult as some other mountains in the UK and Ireland.

Highlight of the trip to Zion, hiking Angel's Landing. This is one of the most popular hikes in the parking, and requires a permit through lottery. Fantastic views. Strava activity: www.strava.com/activities/11002000350

Explored the coastal rainforest area of Haleakala national park on Maui island. Quite cool after seeing the lava fields on the big island the previous two days. Great coastal views, a bamboo forest and ended at an impressive waterfall. Check out my strava activity here: www.strava.com/activities/10382233391
High Point 26- Mauna Kea (Hawaii)
มุมมอง 289 หลายเดือนก่อน
26th highpoint done and one of my favorites. Unique experience high up in the lava fields, above the clouds, observatories and snow. By far the highest peak I've climbed as Mt. Mitchell in NC (6,600' and change) was the previous highest for me. Planning on doing at least 2-3 highpoints in 2024, but likely won't be until at least September. High Point 25- Panorama Point (Nebraska)
มุมมอง 42ปีที่แล้ว
Got my 25th highpoint in Nebraska last August. Another flat highpoint, but some cool scenery in the great plains and near the Colorado and Wyoming borders. Also my furthest west highpoint at this time. No hiking required, this was a drive-up highpoint as many of the midwest states are. Check out my strava activity: www.strava.com/activities/9669357439

Your video was truly beautiful and inspiring. As a fellow creator, I appreciate the effort you put into it. Sub and 👍1
Awesome Highpoint. Love the style of those mountains over there. Makes me wanna go back. Maybe with a bit less mud, though.
Cool video! I know you said you didn’t see any of the foxes, but did you see any other wildlife like any lizards or birds other than seagulls?
@@wesleye556 Thanks! Yes, there were some ravens at the end at the beach. I can't recall about lizards.
Great video! Awesome videography. Can’t wait for more!!!
Us white people like to do silly things
I hiked here in 2010. It still looks pretty much the same to me, Beautiful as can be. Thanks for the vid
You can see why it's popular. Was it tough to get a permit?
@@RhodySeth I think the lottery odds are about 35% for March, so I got a bit lucky. I think the odds are a little better if you do the early lottery well in advance compared to the day before lottery, which I did.
Fantastic place. Hope you made it to Angels Landing.
@@RhodySeth Thats the next video!
Great info Video. When were you there?
@@SuperSafari6 Thank you! This was on March 18, 2024. Better to go in the winter since it gets so hot.
Maybe you're allergic to deserts. Cool place - would be awesome trail run there if it wasn't, ah, Death Valley.
Pretty wild, that Hawaii has a mountain that big. So different from what you normally associate with the islands. When’s Denali?
Yeah the geography of Hawaii is really interesting, so diverse. Maybe similar to something like canary islands/azores, but not the rest of the US. Denali will be number 50 for sure, so probably in the 2030s.
Nice job on #21
Pretty impressive cliffs and I suppose I owe Michigan an apology. The blue color of the water in the thumbnail made me think this video took place in the Caribbean or something.
You're right, the water color definitely looks tropical in spots and less so of a cold northern lake.
It's always hard for me to wrap my head around how large those lakes are. If I didn't know, I would have thought this was footage from an east coast beach.
It really does feel like a calm version of the ocean.
Hello, my dear friend. Amazing sharing. Thank you very much. Have a wonderful day. With love and full support, Composer Yuriy Saliy.
Pretty impressive. Last time I was there was in 2000 before we crossed the border to see Phish in Toronto. Amanda and I are heading to Toronto in October so I think we're going to stay overnight there.
Still annoyed that I didn't get to check that place out because my Phish festival was cancelled.
That's a bummer. Hope you get a chance in the future, it was great.
Beautiful views up there...amazing vista for sure! Bruce and Otis
A popular summit on what sure looked like a great day for weather. Wonderful! Bruce and Otis
Jeez, even East Osceola was busy. I think it's sort of hilarious that you did this trip with your dad and he's nary in the video. Is your Old Man camera shy? 😆
I guess I usually film when I get to a lookout or neat spot and he's either ahead or behind, I don't really think about it. Good point though.
@@matthewwalker7886 yeah that makes sense when you would bust out the camera. From a viewing perspective, being able to capture other people on the trail makes for a more engaging video. Grab a couple shots of him coming down the trail after you next time - see how it looks!
@RhodySeth I get it and definitely agree, it's good to see someone actually moving on the trail. Good suggestion, thanks!
Great to see a fire tower that is accessible as most in my area are all closed off. Wasn't that way a good number of years ago, so it is a shame. Wonderful day to get out for a hike even in the wet and humid conditions. Take good care now and have a great week. Bruce and Otis
I should make it a point to get up there this summer. Looks fun and rough.
I like that place a lot. Just wish it was closer. Ha, like everything.
😂
Fun seeing the summit with all the rocks. 'twas a much smoother experience with the snow in May. Sooo many people. You should make your dad talk in these videos.
I was surprised how it technical it was, that snow sounds nice. Should have woken up early like you did to avoid the crowds, but was worried I needed a full rest with the sickness. Good idea, will try to get some short interviews in future videos.
Mmmm, Skye. Bummer you were sick for it. Nice you got some views of the Cuillins behind the Fairy Pools - they were in the clouds when we visited.
I'm still bitter we didn't see any of those cows over there.
If you zoom in enough the mounds of seaweed sort of look like mountains...
Yaa ampuun😂😂😂
recommended here 10/10 can't wait for the algorithm to find this
Great views!!
I remember those days, driving up to the Whites from UNH. I didn’t appreciate it at the time, how short drive was. Get up there as often as you can! Specially if you plan on returning to sad flat Rhode Island.
I wonder if he wants to find him? Still unclear on that point.
🤣 I just can't believe you made an hour long video of this scene. Fantastic movie; 10/10.
He seems very determined.
Those sad houses at the beginning look straight out of Edward Scissorhands. Congrats on hitting 20.
Well they can’t all be spectacular. And least there’s a plaque.
I need to get down to them Smokey’s. Busy summit but that’s too be expected.
Nice Veiws, Beautiful area, Thumbs Up

Man, everyone runs into those red newts but me!
Really nice hike! Can't wait to hike there later this year
A few years ago I was in Asheville for work and had hoped to get up to Mt. Mitchell but it didn't happen. Nice area though. Blue Ridge Mountains are purdy. Not sure if it would be considered alpine zone. I suspect criteria involves not only being near/above treeline but specific plant types as well. But I'm no alpine-ologist.
You put in a ton of driving. Well done. You should have tried to ride one of those ponies. If Zelda has taught me anything, it's that all you need to do is stroke their mane a couple times and they'll settle right down. Didn't expect that rain!
Thanks, I actually enjoyed or at least didn't mind most of the driving, which I wasn't expecting. I had no idea it was going to rain. It really came down on the way back.
Wow, that's a high elevation for trailheads. Remember: National Parks are for everyone, not just those fit for technical terrain. You're right though - sometimes it's nice to take an easy saunter to the summit.
I agree, it's great to have a mix of trail difficulties and trails for beginners. It just feels bizarre doing a 4,000 foot mountain in the East and only doing a short, easy hike to get there. Not a whole of Northeast peaks where you could start up so high.
Stony Man! Who knew Pennsylvania had such beauty? Not I. I figured it was all highways and cheese steaks. Perhaps I've misjudged you, Keystone State.
Why did I think this was in Pennsylvania? Clearly I know my National Parks. 😁😆
Shenandoah? Hardly know 'er! Looks like a lot of open rock which is my preference. Nice trail signs they have out there.
RI STATE PIGS ARE THE BIGGEST CRIMINALS WALKING THE FACE OF THIS EARTH !!
Thank you so much for a great video and thank you for not speeding up the hiking. I like to get a good idea of the trail conditions before going and your video was so helpful.
