Monica, I put this on hold because Apple told me to split the app in two and I didn't want to redo the entire effort. Their issue was that it required a sign in for all user which was at the core of this app because it tried to create a personalized experience for all. They wanted a non-sign in portion and a sign-in version. So reworking would have taken time and also a change in mission. Do you think there is enough interest in this? Because if the answer is yes, I can maybe revive it.

I remember getting notifications both when the app was running and when it wasn't running. I think I made a video about that but I would have to look for it...

Hello, thanks for your question. Apple made me redesign the app. I made another video about my dialog with Apple about this: "How to make money with iPhone apps" (you can find it in my channel or here's the link th-cam.com/video/wwiY0EexSHc/w-d-xo.html). It explains in detail the struggle I had with this this redesign. Basically, they don't want me to sign up the user up front, but that was a core part of the app. So I decided to completely split the app in two (basically redesign it from the ground up) and provide a simple and an advanced version. I haven't had time to completely finish this (it's a big redesign) but it's getting there. Hopefully, in a couple weeks I will be able to re-submit it based on this new design, where the basic version will not require any signup.

Muhammed, what do you mean? Can you give me a concrete example of what you mean?

Oh, I think I get it, like hitting the snooze button on your alarm clock. I think you'd have to reschedule the notification yourself for a later time. If there is some feature out of the box, I am not aware of it.

There is a more recent video about how to force users to upgrade which discusses how dealt with this problem in more detail: th-cam.com/video/rXit1kmF0FM/w-d-xo.html If you just want to know what I did to disable old versions: My app uses the database for everything and I built a REST API to front the database in Javascript. So my app is really talking to a middleware server layer. I used that plugin from pub.dev which extracts the device version and stored it in app state on app startup and with every request going to to the back end I transmit that device version to the back end. Each REST call checks this on the server before servicing the request and replies with an error if its older than its willing to deal with. This protects my server from old versions making a mess of my API and database.

Do you get why this works? Because just about EVERYTHING in my app needs to talk to my middleware. If the middle says NO, then the app is effectively disabled! We can have a chat about this if you need further help to implement it. LMK.

I'm really glad you found this helpful! I was really happy to find this solution because it allows me to create a very nice page with a link that points them straight to the new version download. We don't want to lose/frustrate a customer because we force the upgrade so I wanted to make the transition as painless as possible for my customer. Hopefully, (s)he will just click through and get the new app because it is so easy for them to do that!

Hello, look at the Docker command in the video: It maps a local mount point to one in the Docker container. Wherever --volume points to in the Docker command, that is where the files get stored. Note that the example uses /tmp, which doesn't exist on Windows. You must use some other existing folder if on Windows, and you will find the files there.

If you are trying to generate certificates for a group servers (subdomains) under the same domain, you should use wild card certificates. There's another video that describes how to do this th-cam.com/video/OrNezHEHw38/w-d-xo.html

Yes that part is a little tricky. When you look at the command, you will see that the root domain and the subdomains are both specified. You need to generate challenges for example.com and *.example.com separately by specifying them both in the Certbot command line. Now you will end up with two challenges automatically. You will have to install them both in your DNS for things to work.

Please, double check your path and command line options to make sure you didn't introduce any unwanted characters or spaces into your command line while copying the command. That is a common source of this error.
