Thank you. I'm happy with relaunch. This weekend I've been teaching a 10 year old and this kite is a gamechanger for that! My main downside is, that it flutters more than the peak5. But I prefer the Hybrid, when I go wavefoiling with a kite (which is normally not the case). I love it for its use in teaching. This is so good to learn.

If it is the same size, the Sonic4 generates definitely more power than a Soul. The lowend is pretty good!

Das ist eigentlich bei allen Softkites so und hier haben wir auch DEN Tipp: In dem Moment, in dem der Helfer den Kite fängt, ziehe an der Leeseite der Bar (bzw. an der oberen Steuerleine bzw. lenke nach oben (mit allem das gleiche gemeint)). Der Kite kippt sofort nach hinten weg. Dann direkt auf den Kite zulaufen und das Problem tritt nicht mehr auf. Funktioniert richtig gut!!!

Vermutlich meinst du mit langsamer das Drehtempo, das ist natürlich systemspezifisch klar. Wer einen Kite will, der maximal schnell dreht, ist bei einem Hochleister Softkite falsch. Was Relaunch bei Wellen angeht, gehe ich da nicht mit.

Also ich schon seit 25 Jahren. Wenn jemand mit einem Kite (egal welcher Bauweise) weit und nicht hoch springt, ist der Absprung zu früh. Ich vermute, dass die meisten Mattenkiter, die du kennst, noch ein recht niedriges Level haben. Im Leicht- bis Mittelwind sollte ein guter Softkite ähnlich hoch rauskommen wie ein Tube. Im Fall des Sonic4 komme ich mit dem Sonic weiter nach oben als mit einem Bigair-Tube.

Hallo Daniel, nun, der Hybrid funktioniert auch mit einem Directional, das können wir nun sagen. Doch er hat eben eine ganz andere, eigene Charakteristik als Tubes. Die Drifteigenschaften sind genial, das ist ebenfalls klar. Doch ob die Kombi dir gefällt, das ist wiederum schwierig zu sagen. Beim Kiten geht es viel um das Feeling. Und das muss man für sich selbst entscheiden. Ich selbst würde zum Wavekiten mit Directional (ohne Foil) was anderes bevorzugen. Von der Größe: Eher 7.5, aber auch dort gibt es noch ein paar Rückfragen. Meld dich gern bei uns, wir haben auch noch gebrauchte Hybrids, falls interessant.

This is difficult to tell, because feeling is something that might vary a lot from rider to rider. The feeling is different to a LEI and a Soul. If you have tried a Peak, this is closer. The Hybrid turns quite good because you can use smaller sizes. But the main advantage is the feeling of lightness. If you depower it, it just floats and you feel not much more than a bit of vibrating because of the flutter. And it drifts amazingly. If you ride your LEIs with a lot of power and snappy turns (like on a waveboard), this could be something that you might miss. It's different and I recommend that you try a Flysurfer Peak (3 and newer) or Hybrid to geht a bit of an impression of the feeling and if you like it.

@@boardway Thank You. I'm currently on Ocean Rodeo Roam (Aluula) kites where the emphasis for me is exactly what you describe... uber light and snappy with good float. This after my 6 years on Clouds

@@boardway If another demo day occurs in Hood River I think it will be worth a four hour drive as I am very intrigued by these kites. I can say that my Souls were able to be water relaunched incredibly easy if you simply stuck with a few simple habits

Hi Sebastien, I think that 9-10knts might be the lower end for a 7.5 and your equipment. But it also depends on the shape of your foil. If I'd chose a kite for 9knts, I'd rather grab the 9.5. If its more like shifting from 9 to 15knts, I'd take the 7.5. Hope this is helpful for your decision.

Hi, yes they are available, but we didn't find the time to test this, yet. I suppose this should be possible. But the way you ride a hybrid and a soul on a foil are very different. If you like fast and powerful foiling, the closed cell kites are way better. If you like light and playful foiling, the hybrid might be your choice.

@@boardway Thank you for the answer. I never tried hybrid (or even single skin like Peak) but I realize that it would perform somewhat like 1 strut LEI. Just curious about low-end. I have 1strut Cabrinha Contras from 5m to 11m and love to ride it. So much fun! My only problem that when wind drops below 7kts I have to use 15m Soul (as 11m Contra does not stay in the air anymore) and don't like its heavy/crazy pull. Just wondering if 11.5m hybrid will do the trick in such winds. Please let us know how is 11.5m in this department when you will have chance to try it. I like your videos - very informative and to the point :)

@@crocodile172 Thanks! Hi, for sure, we're going to test it. Anyway you should try a Single Skin or Hybrid first, because the feeling is different and kiting is a lot about how it feels. But for sure it will stay in the air, when a soul does not anymore.

Leider noch nicht. Den 1er schon, aber seitdem hat sich offensichtlich einiges getan. Ich seh mal zu, dass ich einen ranbekomme.

Wir werden es testen! Die Thematik gibt es ja generell bei Singleskins und bei den meisten war der Verschleiß weniger schlimm als wir es erwartet hätten. Dennoch: Es ist ein spezieller Kite und wenn man das nicht mag, wird man damit nicht glücklich :-)

Hallo Christof, es gibt keinen 11er. Es hängt vom Gewicht ab und davon, wie man kitet. Eventuell wäre ein 10er oder ein 12er die beste Wahl, unter manchen Umständen sogar 8 oder 15. Am besten ruf uns mal an, dann kann ich dich besser beraten. Unsere Nummer findest du auf unserer Website.

Hallo, danke, das freut mich zu hören! Das kommt sehr drauf an, was für Teile verbaut werden sollen und welche Leinenlänge. Grob ist es etwa im Preisbereich von aktuellen Bars von Marken wie Core oder Duotone. Ruf mich gern an, dann können wir besprechen, was du wünschst und ich kann es dir genauer sagen.

Thanks for your message. This is not 100% and both might be a solution depending on your conditions. A 5.5 might be not enough for 10knts. If in your condition you need to ride a 10m2 tubekite, I recommend 7.5. if you feel good with smaller sizes like 8, the 5.5 would do the job. If you have changing winds between 10 and 20 I would take 5.5. I like to use the smallest possible size on a hybrid while i prefer the biggest possible size on foilkites.

@@boardwaythe last sentence is interesting.. can you elaborate? Why do you want the hybrid at smallest possible? And why not with foilkites?

@@madsteeez I simply like powered foilkites. There are also some who like to foil with rather small foilkites ... But that's not what I prefer. The hybrid does not have the same dynamic feel, so it fits much more to the "light and playful" way of foiling. And for this a smaller size is more fun. Also the hybrid starts fluttering in the upper windrange and therefore a smaller size feels nicer.

Unfortunately not really. For sure you could foil, but the experience would be quite different. The Peak 7.5 has a lowend that I would say is equivalent to a 9-10 m2 regular kite and the viron 8 is more like a 5-6 (not in the feeling, only when you can get on a foil). Also the drift ability and flying in light winds are very different. The viron needs MUCH more wind to stay in the air. To put it that way: I personally would not choose a viron for foiling, except you like the soft feeling.

Der Ace braucht keinen so langen Depowerweg. Ist ja doch recht gestreckt. Und der Depowerwerg ist bei der Trust Bar einstellbar. Ich befürchte jedoch, dass der Auslöseweg von 6m für den Ace nicht reichen wird. Habe ich aber noch nicht getestet

@@boardway danke für die schnelle Antwort. Gibt des denn eine alternative zu der original Bar von North, oder ein Umbau-kit? Oder eine Seite wo man die Bar noch neu oder gebraucht kaufen kann?

@@111Niklas111 Ich würde eine Bar mit V und Single-Frontline Safety mit genug Auslöseweg nehmen. Z.B. Flysurfer, Ozone, Slingshot etc.

Hi, danke für deine Nachricht! prinzipiell lässt sich so gut wie alles umbauen. Schick uns einfach eine Nachricht an die info@ und ich überlege mal, was wir machen können. Die Infos, die wir brauchen: Welche Bar soll umgebaut werden und für welchen Kite wird sie dann genutzt.

For sure: So far I tested it in 6-15knt. Weight 85kg and I used a duotone spirit Carve 1250. I think I need about 9-10knts to have fun with this size. But relaunching was no issue even in deep water and pretty light wind.

Hi, vor so einer Entscheidung solltest du unbedingt testen, ob Hybrid mit Twintip dir gefällt. Der Kite ist da doch etwas anders, als was man so kennt. Möglicherweise wäre ein Soul 12 eher etwas, was deine Wahl ist. Ich werde da demnächst auch noch mehr Erfahrungen sammeln, weiß aber für mich selbst, dass ich für Twintip keine Hybrids fliegen werde. Du kannst mich gern anrufen, wenn es konkreter wird.

Das ist mal nachhaltig! Und: Das Standardtuch von damals ist unglaublich langlebig!

Ganz klar: Für reinen Landeinsatz würde ich den Peak bevorzugen. Vorteile: B-Safe, schneller einzupacken und ich finde er flattert auch weniger. Beim Droppen fällt er komplett zusammen. Einziger Vorteil beim Schulen sehe ich in leichterem Widerstart, würde aber selbst für Snowkiteschulung klar den Peak bevorzugen. Beim Springen gilt: Alle Not kommt vom Vergleichen ;-). Ein Soul oder gar Sonic geht da schon ganz anders ab. Aber ob man das auf dem Schnee möchte? BTW: Unhooked springt ein Peak erstaunlich gut.

Thanks for your comment. For a lightwind test: We have to wait until the big sizes are available. Are you interested in lightwindtest with a normal foil? Because with a small wingfoil set like a 90l board and a 1260cm2 mid-to-high aspect this will be pretty low for sure. About durability: Yep! As we want to change from Virons to Hybrids in our school, we will see how it performs in a longer term. If you are foiler, the big sizes will be quite durable for sure, because fluttering isn't that strong in lighter winds. But if you ever tried a smaller size in really strong winds, fluttering gets pretty heavy. We will have an eye on this.

@@boardway Thank you for your reply. I'd be mostly interested in ultra light wind foiling (regular foil board with a foil wing around 1100 cm2 - I have a Lift 170 High Aspect). I wonder how the low end if those kites compare with that of strutless kites like the UFO for the same size. But I'm also interested in the other approach you described, using a wingfoil board to minimize power requirement for the waterstart :) Good to know the flutter shouldn't impact durability too much in LW foiling :)

@@davidflusin5705 ok, this will be easier to test. What I expect is that it will pull you on the board earlier than a no-strutter of the same size. But those kites feel so different that I suppose it will be more a matter of what feeling you prefer.

We'd need more time to compare it completely (and this will be difficult in our winter conditions) but as far as I can tell right now it seems pretty similar. Deep water relaunch is great and feels much easier and less demanding than on a regular foilkite. Also it relaunches in less wind. I feel much safer going out in crappy conditions than on my sonics. So relaunch is really good. For landing: I don't really like backstalling these kites and would prefer dropping it and then using the safety system for landing. But there will be other opinions for sure.

@@boardway OK thanks for the reply. One of the things I likfe about the Peaks is that I can land it almost anywhere either backstall or at edge and feel very under control and precise with where I put it. Just wondering if the Hybrid will blow around a bit, andif you have to walk up the line to the kite to keep it flagged out?

@@robertovillate It won't stay on the ground as a peak because it is partly inflated but at least better than a normal foilkite. On the day we made the video i could put it anywhere, but this was pretty light wind. I think it's just between those two concepts

@@boardway it sounds lke a front single line safety is necessary then? Or can you disable kite by pulling in equally on both back (outside) lines?

@@robertovillate For sure you can backstall it. Before it backstalls it creates quite a lot of power for a little moment, but then it stalls quite controllable. In strong wind that's not my choice and I always like having a SFS. But in these days the ways of using kites become very different. Especially on a newer system.

I've deep water relaunched this kite in light 5kn wind and strong 25kn wind with no issue. It's very easy to relaunch and I've done this with 100% success rate. I've also deep water drift launched the kite (swim out, unroll the kite, let the lines out) and drift launched off a boat too. I've never had this kite invert like the peak because it's more stable than the peaks.

the bigger sizes are not available, yet. we expect them in the middle of december. We have the sizes from 7.5 downwards and therefore this is the most universal size right now. We also were able to try the 3.5 in higher winds, a really fun experience.

Über 25knt mit Wavefoil konnten wir schon mit dem 3.5 probieren. Sehr geil zum wavefoilen in dem Wind, flattert aber auch noch mehr. Waveboard wird auf jeden Fall auch noch getestet, da der Kite so genial driftet.

ich fänd hier was zwischen Soul und Sonic in der Größe toll. Darf auch Sonic draufstehen :-)
