I had 0 idea on what the ripcord was, so i pulled it out, but thankfully, this video existed so i could figure out how to put it back

Picked up my vest today for annual training and accidentally pulled the ripcord thinking it was a carrying handle 😅 learned a lot from this video, absolute lifesaver

Modern plate carriers: for our innovative quick release systems, we just put load bearing buckles in the shoulder straps that can’t be accidentally undone and put a tube system on the cummerbund that can’t be undone except when pulling it in a deliberate manner. It makes the plate carrier last longer and makes it much quicker and quieter to put on, allowing for a fast side entry method. The US army: We’re going to thread a METAL CORD through TINY CLOTH LOOPS that are the ONLY THING HOLDING THE THING TOGETHER and make it PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE for most soldiers to adjust easily or comfortably. We also put TONS of EXTRA FABRIC and velcro that can SNAG on things and MAKE MORE NOISE and make the entire thing SO COMPLEX to put back together that people literally have to LOOK UP A VIDEO to figure out how to put it back together AND we’re going to PAY MORE for it than a HIGH END plate carrier.

My dad gave me a vest he was given, (he’s a contractor) and and I pulled the ripcord not knowing that it would disassemble the best, this video helped so much because my dad has to return the vest as he is moving from an airbase in Iraq to the main quarters in Georgia. Super thanks. Just did EDRE yesterday, for TC3, they take my iotv apart, and then I don’t know how to put back, no one knows in the team cause they just know how to quickly disassemble by ripcord by master gunner

Appreciated. I got issued the old one our drills told us don't pull the cord or arti 15 so we never learned how to reassemble our iotv and my oh shit cord got pulled during EIB training. I thought I was boned.
