Are there any services to these houses? Depending on how long they've been abandoned there may not be. If there are no services or undependable services you can't buy these homes. Parts of Detroit have no or limited services and as a result the homes are not fit to move into or renovate.

This was sanctuary state for Black people, and they were still executed lynched, but we have sanctuary states for immigrants in their safe, so what’s going on here?

Pine Bluff is being gentrified - within the next year or 2, it's going to look and be totally different. The residents need to vote out their sitting city officials, they seem to be a huge part of the problem.

Why doesn’t the city, the county or the state just give these properties to people on a fixed income ie people with a guaranteed income that can slowly overtime. Bring these homes back to life at the same time giving people a chance at the American dream ,homeownership??

I was SHOCKED when the guy said that the Pine Bluff permiting board wouldn't give him a occupentacy permit for that HUGE warehouse. WHAT'S wrong with the "elected" officials of this town? Are they CORRUPT? Are they Prejudiced against "outsiders"? Do they like all the blight? Blight that brings crime, rodent infestations? Do they FEAR positive change that would benifit this town? OR, is it about money changing hands under the table, making it that an "outsider" could then get the permits they need? I'm just wondering. BECAUSE I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY they refused this young man a permit for that empty warehouse. A warehouse that would house the great beginnings of a very promising business.

I live 30 miles from there. Its not worth wasting $400 on a dilapidated drug den in a crime ridden city that has a dying economy propped up exclusively by a casino and a paper mill that stinks the entire city up.

I'm from the northwest region of Arkansas, which is the polar opposite of PB. In the Rogers, Bentonville, Fayetteville, Springdale area things are BOOMING, people are moving here from all over the place. Pine Bluff has always been a laughing stock to us, only mentioned in conversation in reference to it being a hellhole. This honestly brought me to tears watching this, and it just really sucks that once great places like this are rotting all over the country. The powers that be running them are like cancer, killing them more and more as time passes. You have that guy trying to literally bring business and jobs to the city, trying to renovate and use the building he bought, and those corrupt city managers won't let him do it! That is just idiocy, and maybe a display of intentional malice and harm to that city. They're keeping money from coming into the area by denying that man a real permit. I can only imagine that's how anyone looking to start a business in that city is treated.

The Knox house would be my dream house. That is one of my favorite styles of homes. I hope the owner can get help fixing it because it has the potential to be beautiful again.

I grew up just south of Pine Bluff. Pine Bluff was our go to shopping and eating almost every Saturday back in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. In fact, there is a home there that was the inspiration for my childhood home. White flight was more about crime increasing rapidly than it was about loss of jobs. That one lady who was asked about white fight is in denial. The local government is crooked and ignorant! Misappropriation of funds is most likely the case. Governor Sanders should launch an investigation. As long as you got people running around robbing because they’re too lazy to get a job and as long as you got homicides happening, Pine Bluff will not recover. I hate to say it, but look at the difference in the old pictures and the current pictures. I’m just saying…..The facts speak for itself. I know not everyone fits in that category, but it’s still the hard reality of what’s going on with Pine Bluff. Anyone who buys a house online under false advertising like pictures when the property looked good, should sue and take that law suit to another county. Because you sure won’t get justice in Pine Bluff under the good ole boy system!

we call it "Crime Bluff" it's always in the top 10 cities for violent crime. I think it's hit critical mass. You'd have to do something extreme to change it's course. When I was looking at houses there was a really cheap one in Pine Bluff and I asked me relator about it. She said some contractors had looked at it and passed on it. Floors were collapsing in some rooms.
