Awesome review! I got mines last month. But it's a 3D made version and much cheaper. The only downside is the cylinder does not have a spring lock. It's all plastic. The real metal can cost way too much. But it's a functional storage compartment. The vials are same ones and with the labels.

Could u replace the light with just the fan?

Hey! It’s me again. I just got my smoke kit (don’t have the batteries yet 😔) and I realized using the packing peanuts between the trap wall and the fogger help stop it from wobbling

Why weather a sealed unit? Lol thats not realistic. Do like I did and sand the shiny off the casing.

The volume level is very low. Could you increase it? And, the cable could easily be mounted above the trap and pedal versus underneath and simply plugging it in, permanently. You've created an unnecessary amount of additional work by hanging the cable below the ensemble,

Where were you able to source the connectors? I’m having trouble finding them in Ontario

It's not quite related, but watching your trap upgrades has started me on my journey to making a more Real Ghostbusters-style pedal.

I have no plans to make a shorter cable, but I'm sure I'll find a way to rip a connector off accidentally, and need to refer to this to fix it. I'm totally 'that guy', I'm afraid.

I didnt add a secondary switch in the pedal. I tapped off the yellow and red wires coming off the existing switch to the fob switch. Works perfectly and allows for the trap to open and close while triggering smoke. I also put a switch mounted to the side of the pedal to give the option to turn on/off the smoke from the pedal. Great work here btw!

Regarding the "memory" of turning the trap off, in the video the first time you restarted the trap you didn't wait for it to actually power down (the yellow LED was still on). Since it was still in the "shutdown" part of the program it still had all variables stored which is why the bargraph direction remained when you restarted it. While waiting as long as you did the third time worked, you actually only have to wait until all the LEDs turn off for it to "forget" the bargraph setting. Great how-to on reversing the ribbon cable wires though!

Where did you find the 3d model of the box that fits into the trap?

In adding the panel leds, how do you have them soldered together? Also, can you use blinking or flashing leds? Or tie it into a chaser circuit using a ne555 or the cd4017 ic

Yep.. once again you do the hard work so we don't have to. If anyone has earned a GB Engineering patch, it's you! I'm gonna try it... iffy as I am about soldering on boards and stuff... but dagnabbit, you've convinced me to try it. 14 year old me would lose his mind seeing this thing at work, smoke and all... and old, tired, jaded me is right there along with him.

Instead of replacing the screw you might have gotten away with using one of the caps that came in your box of switches to add some height to the button

This is pretty great! Personally, I would want one small change: for the smoke to start once the trap closes. So tap the pedal to open the trap, 2nd tap to close the trap and activate the smoke, then smoke stops after 15 seconds or something. So it would need a switch that requires two hits to activate, and then an auto-timeout of some sort...

I got one, gotta say the electrics are working properly, only issue is you can't put a figure in it, not sure its 1:18 either

I knew something was wrong with the trap lighting sequence... Didn't seem right to me, thank you so much for this video. I've got a bunch of community mod kits on the way to me, gonna be doing this and all the other installs all at the same time so I only have to disassemble this thing once. Lol

What about a 3d printed insert that runs around the opening and is a vent for the smoke, and you pump the smoke into that?

Soldering is something I'm not remotely confident with... I wince just watching it being done, let alone doing it myself. But mods like this keep me trying!

Perhaps a small saw or Dremel can cut the old wheels off, pull the axel out and put in your mod without opening the trap!

Thanks for the great tutorial! This was one of the (little) things that bugged me about the trap. I always switched the light direction imediately when i turned the trap on...not anymore!! Thanks again & cheers!

Removal of the front panel isn't entirely necessary. And, "CORECT" should be "CORRECT" Maybe that's the Canadian spelling? 😆 But, the Chinese factory built being backwards tells me, "You work hard! You work fast!" Would not be surprising, interestingly. Keep an eye out for my upcoming video on this. Teehee!

Knew this one was just a matter of time.... hehe. I did this a few weeks back, and i'm glad I did every time I turn it on. As for 'the videos are too long'... I always wonder why they can't just scroll ahead. Some of us like to hear the occasional tip, or other detail you throw out while powering through 8 screws in a row... those who don't can just... tap a button and scoot forward easily enough. People used to understand that there are other people watching, and maybe choice is a good thing. Go figure.

I just replaced the banjo. It comes out very easily and surprisingly it's made after metal, so you can't cut into it to keep the hose intact. But the hose was easy to remove. It's pointed on the inside, so i shaved off the excess and pulled it right out. You do have to cut away some plastic , so the banjo lays flush. And tou have to widen the screw hole a bit to accept the silver flat head screw that comes with the banjo. It's screws in really tight and looks great.

I think if the smoke machine was silver it would bounce more of the light and blend in better

I also recommend using Velcro at the base of the trap and on the bottom of the smoke kit to keep it stuck

Also where did u get the batteries?

That piece u put on the tube is for the nozzle to protect it from too much heat

This is great! One easy mod I’d highly recommend is removing the stock yellow stripes with nail polish remover and adding yellow electrical tape like it was done for the movies. It looks so much better

If anyone will figure out an easy, or at least affordable, way to make the pedal set it off, it'll be you.
