When did Aikido become so lathargic? Where is the energy? Ki? Ki-extension? Intention? Maai? Awareness? Correct technique? Correct movement? I see this in RIAI Aikido in NZ, Aiki kai Aikido in Australia, and right here in Shinryukan Aikido NZ. It's like you all have just given up, and are just going through the motions, like a Kabuki play. If you take the martial out of an art, what do you end up with? This. It never used to be like this, when I first started studying Aikido in NZ, many decades ago. What has happened to Aikido over the decades? So sad to see a beautiful art slowly die, right in front of my eyes. Thank goodness I lived and studied in Japan for many years, and learnt amazing technique from an old master there, Hari Sunao Shihan. This is good news! The Japanese Food Fair in June 2021 was very good. the Hokkaido Saketoba Ramen at Ramen Do was brilliant. And Kazuya offered a wonderful lunch option. don't miss this. One of the best food events in Auckland.

Wonderful skills. Its great to see the strong Aikido family ties between New Zealand and Japan. As a kiwi , I also enjoyed visits from Japanese karate teachers in the 80s.
