Si señor, floreos los justos y necesarios con una limpieza en las notas y un virtuosismo total.
Well, it was recorded using all 6 horns; plenty of coffee breaks; plus the usual arranged parts & close microphone work w/nobody playing over mezzo forte. I mean, how great is it, really? Better: A live concert with 4 powerhouses. That's recordings & online life now, sadly.
A fantastic work. Never gets old. Written by a master.
My favorite rendition. Such a skilled trumpeter.
Never heard this in all my years. DG knew.
CWS and HM. That’s a seal of approval!
According to mudcat it was "shave and a haircut - shampoo" before it was "shave and a haircut - two bits.
Best sound ever and makes the instrument truly sing. Shame he had to die so young
I tiddly i tie? Is the name of the jingle
OMG, The MASTER!
Bravo! Excellent performance and interpretation of this piece.
El mejor de todos los tiempos
Yes
I won't be surprised seeing him play during the end of time as an Angel 😂😂<joking>.. Perfect!
Barry had a beautiful, velvety tone...unlike many modern horn players. The 'characteristic tone' has shifted toward a much (MUCH) brighter sound.
It's because of the use of geyer wrap horns.
@@peterwhitehead2858 yup...that is so true. I knew Barry...I played Principal Horn from 1982 - 1988 in an orchestra he conducted. I played a Lawson horn for that time...although I had Walter build me a Medium bore horn, not a large bore one. Even so...I do love the sound of Alexanders....
It's quite some time since I heard this excellent piece and very pleased to be reminded how good it is.

The circumstances resulting in this contribution to our band music are as follows: Dr. Vaughan Williams presided over a festival given by the International Staff Band of The Salvation Army at Dorking, Surrey, and was impressed with the quality of the music presented. After studying full scores of the pieces, he felt he too would like to make a contribution, hence this composition.
Igual não ha!!
Another Fantastic performance from one of the best cornet players.
The brass on this song is actually wild... What a masterpiece.
Is there anywhere online where the sheet music for this can be found?
Check with the Salvation Army Trade Departments in New York and Los Angeles.

Gorgeous ❤
It takes courage and competence to rearrange such sell known orchestral piece, well done !.
Without a doubt the best version period. Everything else is just a distant second to this Masterpiece
How good to hear this classic composition by the late great Ray Steadman -Allen who my wife and I had the great privilege of hosting in our home for a weekend . He was such a great musician but also as modest as can be. An officer and a gentleman indeed.
What a great march this is. Way back in wartime one of my cousins played in the Cairo Red Shield band

Derek Bourgeois was a prolific composer whose star seems to has dimmed since his death apart from brass bands. I can't understand why, but I guess as Radios 2 and 3 seem to ignore his type of music and Classic fm I imagine doesn't even know he exists.
Beautiful
Amazing style, perfect intonation and precision, variety of colours , stunning performance, total commitment. This band at the same artistic level as the famous classical Orchestras in London of that time
Lloyd was 72 of age when he wrote this youthfull shimmering music! It sounds as written in the carefree Romeo-andJuliette-age...
I know someone who disliked this, and that's Shiwan Khan, the last descendant of Genghis Khan.
