    Where did they learn that they have to fix their flaws? Great insight and great short. As always.

      Great question! One reason (among meany) is that they have unmediated access to carefully crafted identities and lifestyles on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. What is crazy is that they have never known a world without influencers. This leads young people to comparisons, causing many of them to feel they have shortcomings to fix. Also, the widespread presence of cosmetic surgery over content over on social media has been associated with growing self-scrutiny among young people. I would love to hear your thoughts on the identity focused aspect of this.

      @ I’ll have to give it some thought. They def live in a computer mediated world. All of it is computer mediated - relationships, friendships, learning, identity formation - they only know formation with it.

      What a great convo. Mentorship needs to be a topic explored more frequently. Think of how many leaders are out there who need to bring someone under their wings to pass on the greatness. How cool would that be...

    All I heard from all of this was: 1. Find the silver lining in times of darkness/pain/suffering, in order to turn around our attitude about what we're feeling and be happy about the fact that we can feel the thoughts of pain because we know we'll feel the contrast of happiness when the bad times are over. 2. Don't be a dick and start trying to make a point to others when THEY are in times of darkness/pain/suffering. That's their tribulations to manage, not yours. You can break down religious teachings into digestible secular philosophies for common good, doesn't always have to be about jEsUs.

    When you are rude, people will also be rude to you. When you are polite, people respond in kind. People like her like to be dismissive but want to be victims when treated the same.

    its okay to get in confrontation and be uncomfortable believe it or not

    • @swim1904
      @swim1904 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, he's not arguing that confrontation is bad What he's saying is it's just my opinion, I could be wrong, this could be a terrible decision, so I'm just not gonna give my opinion, I'll let you make the decision for yourself While I do disagree with him, I have to acknowledge that you're just putting words in his mouth My thought process is to give your opinion if you are a trusted individual to the other person, but specify that you're not sure if this is 100% the best idea, they made the decision, you're not responsible, and if they don't take your advice, so be it, we live happily ever after

    • @risingtideleadership
      @risingtideleadership 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In all situations?

    • @risingtideleadership
      @risingtideleadership 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well said, brother. To the first part of your post, people like to give out there opinions like candy. I think there are a lot of opinions out there that people give in the heat of the moment and end up giving really bad advice. The unfortunate part about this is that it doesn't affect them directly since they are the one giving the opinion. But, it can have disastrous ramifications for the person to whom they are getting that opinion. To the second part of your post, I agree with you that there are confidants in the lives of others who have the ability and reputation of giving worthy advice. Unfortunately, those are usually not the people that we are taking advice from. I for one have an inner circle (as Maxwell puts it) that speaks in my life -- trusted men and women who speak into my life. But, those people are few and far between, and usually the first ones to not want to give me their opinion. That's how I know it is a worthy opinion, and most likely good advice. Thanks for watching and engaging! If there are any topics you would like to hear about, I am all ears, and would absolutely love and invite those opinions 🤣
