Seiko SRPE53K1 unboxing - optimal all-around casual entry-level watch? Christmas market food & wine!
Hello aficionados!
Today I'm unboxing and reviewing a Seiko 5 Sports, ref. SRPE53K1!
I got this watch for my wife's younger brother who is turning 18 and is starting to get into watches! Pretty cool!
I also got him a rubber strap from Morellato, so he can switch it out.
To make the video more interesting, I'm showing you some food from the Zagreb Christmas Market, and opening a bottle of wine from Spain.
Hope you enjoy the video, cheers!

Can I order those in the US or do I have to go to cuba?
Hey man, awesome to have you back! Great watch as first one in my opinion. Decent choice. My first watch was from Citizen which I got when I was 15 or so. Still have it ☺️ when I understood it correctly your wife’s brother has birthday on 1st of December like me 😁 cheers and have a great Christmas buddy
I really wish they would offer the 39mm with more classic dial options. The current lineup is somewhat limited in this regard.
Really enjoyed this video, having just procured some of these myself :). Great job!
Thanks brother! Have you tried them yet? How did you like it? Cheers!
Not yet. They’re stuck in customs alongside some La Gloria Cubana Glorias 😅 hoping they get cleared next week.
@@jacktyler5241 ahh, customs can be tricky! I hope you get them soon.
I also use the 10720 and was thinking about replacing the strap, so this video was very useful. By the way, I'm watching this video from Japan. It's wonderful to be able to connect with people all over the world like this!
Love the channel! Great drink and cigar combination. Looking forward to trying the Partegus Maduro soon. Keep up the great content.
Thanks man, I appreciate it!
I ordered a B&M Clifton Moonphase from AJ at Teddy B’s this morning. Teddy has some of the best watch videos on TH-cam but it’s also a great place to do business. 120 hours of power reserve, WHAT! Great video! Love the blend of travel and watch review. Bravo! 😊
I love Teddy's videos and I appreciate his work. Clifton was on my radar for a long time (still is) as a dress watch, congrats on your addition! Yeah, I prefer to include travel videos from the outside because that's when you wear the watch most of the time. It's boring if you only wear it by your work desk. :) Cheers mate!
Hi, can you help me. Are the two dots on the dial disturb if you Look at this?
Hm, not sure I understand the question. What dots are your referring to? Cheers
@@aficionadospace Thanks for your Quick reply. I mean the grey Point nearly 2 and 9 o clock
@@thomaslindner579 Ah, I see it now! To be honest, I haven't even noticed those before. The thing with the dial transparency and different shades of grey makes it not really stand out in my opinion. I don't have issues with it.
Really Great Review. I ordered mine Today and your Video helped me a lot 😊
Thank you, I appreciate it. Did it arrive yet? What are your first impressions?
@@aficionadospace Yes, I wear it for a week now and it looks beautiful. Its the Riviera Black Dial , 42mm (im 2.06m) The workmanship, wearing comfort and design you can't get anywhere else for this price, + 8 years warranty:) I'm most pleased that Baume Mercier flies under the radar, some people have already asked me about this watch but don't know the brand. I like that
@@brillle51 Glad you're enjoying it! And yes, I get more questions about my Riviera than my Rolex. They really hit it out of the park with this model. Cheers mate!
Great video. It's a shame the backlight made the video image a little bad.
Yeah, the sun behind me was on the way down. I should have thought of that.
What is the brand and model of your humidor? Thanks
It's Adorini Chianti Medium Deluxe.
I have a couple of these in my humidor, but have not set fire to them yet. Also, some Epicure No.2's, which seem to be more accessible from a flavour point of view. Spritz, meat and a Hoyo; what a combination! I hope you enjoyed. - Joe - UK
Hey Joe, Hoyo's are an easy find here in Croatia, they always have them, especially Epi No2. Definitely enjoyed my time that day. Looking forward to repeating it again when the weather improves. Cheers!
Subscribed! We have a very similar sized collection with many similar / same cigars. Nice to see some lovely regionals and limited editions; my most recent regional added to my humidor is the Ramon Allones Private Stock 230 to celebrate Hunters and Frankau's 230th anniversary. I only have one, so will smoke it when I can find another one, but at £150 per stick, they're pricey! There are a few regionals you have which I hope to add to my collection too. I'm particularly intrigued by your La Gloria Cubana 25th. I'm sure your collection is bigger now since this upload was nine months ago, so you most likely have a larger collection than I currently do. I watched this video from start to finish and enjoyed every minute. I hope there will be another update for 2024! - Joe - UK
Thanks mate, I appreciate it! My collection actually got a bit smaller by now as I smoked some of those, but I'll need to upgrade it a bit in the coming months. And I'll definitely be making the 2024. video as well. :) RA is probably in my top 3 favorite brands! I'd be ecstatic to have that 230 UK regional edition. Must be an absolute treat! Good decision to rest it until you can get another one. It should only get better. Cheers!
Cheers. Nice cigar and pairing. I bet you bought a whole box! Btw, it's 4.4 inches, not cm.
Cheers mate! Yeah, lapsus lingue. :) I wasn't able to buy the whole box unfortunately, but if I get an opportunity next time I might. :)
It's a nice watch but I wouldn't think buying it for a second. Rolex is the only watch to buy. I have a day date, submariner and sea-dweller. You can't compare anything to Rolex.
No worries bro, it's a sort of a mental disorder which is common nowadays🙂👌
Everybody is entitled to their opinion. :) But saying that you can't compare anything to Rolex is factually wrong.. Forget about B&M, but there are timepieces that are not comparable but better than Rolex if money was no object.
Why would anyone, take any notice, of someone, that doesn’t wake up knowing, what day of the week it is?
Very very nice Cigars
Thanks mate!
I have the green dial 10618 . I have both the rubber green strap and the steel bracelet. Without a doubt I wear the green rubber more as it sticks out much more. I absolutely love this watch in the 42 mm set. I have neglected my other pieces so much but I cannot help it.
Nice one, and I see why you're enjoying it so much. It's the same for me with my 10720. Especially during summer. It's my go-to piece. Cheers!

Great review. Why is your channel called Aficionado Space??
Thank you! Great question! Nobody ever asked me that. :) It's called Aficionado Space because I want it to be a 'space' for all aficionados who like to enjoy cigars, good drink and watches together with me. And also because I couldn't come up with a better name haha. :D
I do really like this watch. I'm considering the latest green dial. The baumatic movement has cosc and non cosc variants, the Clifton is clearly identified cosc (stated on the dial) but the Riviera does not state cosc. Are you sure the Riviera has the chronometer version?
Hey man, thanks for the comment! The green dial is definitely intriguing. A bit too vibrant for my taste, I'd prefer if it was more of an olive green tone. It only comes on a bracelet if I'm not mistaken? But surely a rubber strap can be ordered separately (I made another video on that). Yes, Riviera movement Baumatic BM13-1975A is COSC certified. It actually holds time better than my Rolex GMT Master II. There's a good article on Time&Tide about this watch too. Check it out. Cheers! timeandtidewatches.com/baume-mercier-riviera-39-mm-hands-on-video/
I too wonder if the green is too much. Yes, I think it's only on bracelet currently. My opportunity to buy would mean paying (discounted price) before seeing but without option for refund. Long story but all kosher. But I can't take the risk without seeing the watch. I looked at your channel and saw the cigars. I have a single Davidoff cigar. My first cigar! It was a gift. Maybe you can advise me the steps to take and how to best enjoy it 🙂
@@jb-hw9if Yeah, I hear you. It's tough to buy something (especially a watch) without trying it out and seeing it in person first. Especially if you're going with something with a color, because in person it's often a bit different than in photos. Congrats on your first cigar! Which Davidoff is it?
@@aficionadospace I'm not sure! It was a gift but it actually was a free sample from a Davidoff event, so it's a single cigar in a black, sealed pouch with no description on it. I'll check your videos for a beginners guide!
@@jb-hw9if Sure sure. I don't know if I have any beginners guide videos, but I always try to give some tips on cigar smoking in my cigar reviews. It's actually a good idea to maybe do a video dedicated to how to smoke a cigar. :)
Davidoff reminds me of a virtual friend of mine who died, who smoked a lot of Davidoff cigars.
Luckily I don't smoke a lot of Davidoff cigars. :D
Just ordered a box of these. I've heard good things
You will not regret it. They're amazing!
Hey man, awesome stick you have there but very pricey with 40€. Really unfortunate we were not able to meet each others. One day the day will come my man from Croatia 🫡 enjoying the video alongside Upmann Half Corona :)
Hey mate, yeah, this one was pretty pricey. But at least it was a perfect cigar. For sure, looking forward to the next opportunity to meet. Cheers!
Hello! Is the titanium bezel pretty resistant to scratches?
Hi! It's pretty resistant. I can't compare it to steel, but if you scrape it against the wall or something sharp, it will scratch the same as steel. Probably no more or less. Luckily I am trying to avoid these situations even though I definitely had it knocked against certain materials, but so far it's good.

Thanks mate, I appreciate it. This cigar is certainly on the lower end of Davidoff's line, but still great value for money. I would also suggest you try other Davidoff's, like Nicaragua, Dominicana Robusto or Yamasa. Also classics like No2. Enjoy!
@@aficionadospace Definitely gonna buy Davidoff no. 2 for about a week. Today I bought Davidoff Signature 2000 because I’m still a beginner and going with mild selection. Thank you for suggestions! 🙃
@@AlejandroHeyy Glad I could help. Enjoy them!
I've almost bought this watch a few times, but the lack of strap options has held me back, which is a shame when you're buying into an integrated watch system.
True.. But, now you have multiple strap options, from multi-color rubber to alligator leather, plus the steel bracelet, so it makes it much more interesting if you are still exploring getting it.
I purchased a B&M Stainless Steel strap for my watch (same as yours), very expensive, but makes the watch looks that much classier.
Yup, I think I saw the photos of that configuration. Certainly looks like a different watch. With a steel bracelet, it is more classy, and with a rubber strap more sporty. But proves that this watch can be worn differently and provide a different vibe and impression with different bracelet options.
Hi- how expensive if I may ask? Really considering buying one. Thanks
@@guillermosugasti9722 Purchased in Sydney Australia for AUD750.00 that is EUR450.
@@guillermosugasti9722 Sure, I'm in Europe, so I could order it directly from B&M, which would take longer and the price would be 195€, but there's an official B&M merchant in my city so I bought it through them (they had to order it from B&M) so I paid 225€ (they obviously had to put some margin on the original price).
Awesome, thanks! To clarify, are you referring to the stainless steel bracelet? I would have thought it was more. At that price, it’s quite similar to the rubber strap price. I might be missing something
As my first watch which one do you think is best to get, Starbucks or batgirl ?
Those are two different lines. Batgirl is GMT Master II, while Starbucks is a Submariner. So also depends on what kind of complications you prefer. The difference is not only in bezel colour or complications, but also the bracelet. With GMT Master II you can choose between oyster or jubilee, and both will have polished middle link. While on Subs you can only get it on oyster, and complete bracelet is brushed. So depends on what you like. You won't go wrong with either choice, and the one that's closer to your heart is probably the better choice for you. I know I wasn't really helpful, but I always recommend getting the watch you personally like, not the ones that are popular.
Better aged? How long?
Cuban cigars are always better when aged, surely. Hoyo Epicure No2, is usually light, not as complex or bold cigar, so aging doesn't make that big of an impact compared to for example Partagas, Montecristo or Cohiba.. I would still recommend aging it 3-6 months, but you won't miss out on a lot if you smoke it right away.
What’s your favourite Bolivar?
I would have to say this one, Belicosos Finos. I like the vitola, it's not as strong as Royal Corona, and I haven't tried their Limited editions. So basically I only tried 3 of their vitolas (they don't have much more than that).
Batgirl not a Batman
This is a Batgirl, not a Batman. The Batman has the reference 116710BLNR. You should know that if you are wearing a genuine Rolex.
First of all, Batman and Batgirl officially doesn't exist. It's just a nickname made up by the community. Second, you are factually wrong. The reference is the same for both 'Batman' and 'Batgirl'. Different bracelet, but the same reference. Go to Rolex website and check it out. You're welcome.
Big and specter are my favorites. Big has a rubber strap.
Nice. I like Spectre one more.

:) Ciao
Just got one of these as a gift, Would a good darker beer or brandy pair well too? Im not a wine drinker.
Amazing, enjoy it! I am usually not a regular beer drinker, and wouldn't drink beer with a cigar, but if that's your preferred drink of choice, sure, go for it. Personally, I would pair it with a coctail, wine or some rum or whisky. So you can go with a brandy as well, for sure. Cheers!

Bracelet
Currently it's on a bracelet. :)
Thanks for the review.
You're welcome!
Unfortunately I couldn’t join last weekend but I followed along right now. So tbh I was not nice at all. No cream when I compare it to a Davidoff millenium I have had in the past. The cigar was definitely not too dry and ‚aged‘ for like half a year in my humidor… I don’t know what’s wrong probably smoked too fast but it took me like 3/4 hour to complete. Construction wise really good, great smoke output as well but I tasted too peppery all the time with little wood but much of minerals almost like many Cubans…. Anyways looking forward to the next live streams mate. Greetings from Germany to the Balkan 🫡
Hey mate, sorry you missed live stream. Yeah, it's a completely different experience than the Millenium line. Signatures are a bit smoother and lighter, but mine was soft as silk, unbelievable. For me it wasn't that peppery, but it's all about different palates so everyone can have a different experience. We'll catch up on the stream some other time. Cheers!
Nice review - allot of manufacturers are making longer thinner cigars to reduce weight - as the UK and other high tax regions base cost per gram. The target is 8 grams. Great blues background music :)
Thanks mate! Good intel. Didn't know about the weight targets. Interesting. But yes, vitolas like lanceros are coming back in trend.
is it hard to get cuban cigars in Italy, especially In Rome?
I don't think it's hard. I live in Croatia, and that's where I get mine. But I'm sure there are a lot of specialized habanos stores where you can get them in Italy and Rome.
