    I think Tommy Morrison is just as big now in a way. He is more appreciated as time passes as boxer. All of us reflect how good he really was. Golden era of heavyweight boxing for me is late 80’s to 90’s. I think Rocky 5 is more appreciated and it’s my second favorite. Tommy is a natural actor. Trey seems to have that artistic side as well. I wish he could connect with Stallone. Maybe a henchman in Tulsa kings. I don’t know, but security for celebrities might be something if he can’t box. I think Trey was a good prospect, good power and tough. His fight with Lattimore was awesome! There something huge for for Trey. He’s got that “it” factor, but it seems he’s at the right places at all the wrong times. I hope that changes soon! Great interview, btw!

    A part of that equation is also better research. People tend to ignore that aspect of it. When I was going through school almost no one had a smartphone but people would just doodle more in their notebooks or all other manner of stupid nonsense to ignore class. A big part of being bored in school is your teacher and most teachers don't get the respect nor the pay to motivate them to be good at their job.

  • @mikeyollie9
    @mikeyollie9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So you have the same people who didn’t have an outlet for their boredom now have said outlets. The only detriment is that it creates people without coping skills for real life. When all your ideas and thoughts are external you don’t need to create internal thoughts or skills. But addiction would be more on their environment than the video game itself.

  • @SomeGuy-gc8zs
    @SomeGuy-gc8zs หลายเดือนก่อน

    I say it's a tradeoff; being able to pay attention to several things at once and switch tasks rapidly can be valuable, but the question is whether it's worth it when it comes at the expense of being able to focus on a singular task for a long period. I know my attention span is pretty well shot, but it's been like that all my life because I'm not neurotypical. Another thing is, you went to school, I went to school, none of us actually wanted to be there. Everyone who attended school hated it so much that even as adults we still can't stand anything that reminds us of it. But today's kids don't have to fear the consequences of doing what they actually want to be doing. If you tell me you'd rather go to class than play Mario, I'll tell you you're a liar, but we'd have had our asses beaten if we skipped school, so we went and we were forced to adapt. These kids have no consequences for their actions, so they actually do skip school and go do things that don't make them want to unsubscribe from breathing.

    • @Acoto
      @Acoto หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not doing things you want to do that benefits you long term is apart of life, and that favors longer attention spans. We have a fancy term for it now called "delayed gratification" but its not new. School was annoying but those who did well often got to go to good colleges and leverage that into better jobs. Many of those who didn't are still in their home town not doing too well 5, 10, or 20 years after high school. The fact is that a few years of not doing what you want whenever you want being enough to make you want to "unsubscribe from breathing" is a character and morals problem, because life isn't just doing what you want until you build that life on your own merits. If you don't earn it then you'll just be a burden on everyone else and undereducated. And you have as much chance of being a profitable influencer making money having people watch you consume a product (games, shows, food, whatever) as being a professional athlete.

    • @SomeGuy-gc8zs
      @SomeGuy-gc8zs หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Acoto You're not wrong about delayed gratification, but there's a difference between normal "I don't want to do this" and the way the school system is. I don't want to go to work every day, it sucks, but it has never been even CLOSE to how much I didn't want to go to school. Schools as we know them seem to be designed from the ground up to be absolutely MISERABLE and to kill children's inherent drive to learn.

  • @TheFastfoodcritic

    schools and education need to compete in the free market of attention just like any other free market if you stagnate and do not continue to innovate you will lose market share. in this case that market share is attention.

I watched Tommy rise through the rankings long before he did Rocky 5 and even followed Trey throughout his career. It's awesome to see him again here in this interview. The part of the story never shared is how my dad, Larry Mayes, and Ted Vann taught Tommy and Timmy (his brother) at the beginning of the boxing career. They were amazing coaches. Just as you mention, that’s how Tommy moved under Tony. Timmy was a great fighter too and no one mentions him. Trey probably should have stayed with you and moved up with experience instead of being thrown in blind sided.
