I swear when will we see Bojack finally stand up to his parents because that's what kids might do when they finally had enough of their parents' abusive actions Q_Q
i actually hate butterscotch more than beatrice. and i do realize it might be because we don't get a tragic backstory to him as opposite to beatrice, but the thing is, he feels a lot more manipulative than her. beatrice is abusive because she's always so very angry at everything and everyone, which doesn't justify anything, but butterscotch isn't just lashing out at those who don't deserve it, he's scheming, he's manipulative. the episode with getting bojack drunk to guilt him into shutting up about his affair is just vile.
Honestly I need to stop reading comments on these videos. There’s so much “woe is me” bullshit, worse yet, from people who literally think that their parents being a bit stern and then expecting a modicum of appreciation is “abuse.” My dad put me on a fucking ironing board and ironed my back when I was a kid, but I’m supposed to show you sympathy because your parents shouted at you? Gfy
There is no need to come off so rude. While I will admit people may use the word abuse loosely sometimes but that still doesn’t mean to invalidate their feelings and experiences. Besides these are just comments after all it’s definitely likely more is happening with them than what they have said there. Which means it’s not wise to judge someone’s experience when you don’t even know them. Even if they were completely direct it doesn’t give you the right to judge them since they were the ones going through it and people deal with things differently. Treating other’s feelings as ridiculous is an immature move
While funny, the first scene with the fathers day card really tells you a lot about Butterscotch. Hes trying so hard to prove something with his writing and he refuses to be wrong, "trying his best" isnt producing results so he uses the excuse that it takes time no matter how long that may be. And if anyone tries to say hes wrong (aka he failed) then threats, yelling, gaslighting and even violence to shut people up.
The scene where Bojack made his dad a heart, and Butterscotch punished him for not making it the way he would've, made me feel so much hate for that miserable excuse for a parent.
The worst thing about this is his childhood and adulthood was crap, and everything he had suffered and had to deal with, lessons and his screwups. If those other countries saw his background. They would reconsider everthing they perceived on bojack.
Honestly, I think it's kind of unrealistic how BoJack is consistently portrayed as an innocent little cinnamon roll as a kid. Yeah, the way his parents raised him screwed him up a lot, but he always had their DNA in him. He should have at least been more forceful about trying to get their attention, less willing to listen when they told him they were busy and overall less empathetic and willing to defer to others' needs. Being as fundamentally selfish as he is is something you're born with.
I noticed at 3:59 Butterscotch said it wasn't Beatrice's fault, Bojack has a shocked look. He's so used to his parents blaming everyone but themselves that when his father decided not to blame her for something, it surprised him.
I'm fucking done 😂😂😂 my man said imaginary friends are free loaders who were invented by communist and something about welfare I'm done 😂😂 best father ever

“imaginary friends are freeloaders invented by communists to rip off welfare” truly one of the sentences of all time

a parent using you as therapy or to cover up actions brings me all the way back
Father of the year!
One of the few characters to make bojack look okay by comparison
Now that's a good father
Love the conservative slander. Statistically wrong in terms of parenting styles but whatever conservatives bad lmao
Even though he’s a terrible person, having Will Arnett read the dialogue is so hilarious
I can almost hear the pure sarcasm in the title

THAT SLOWMO WAS EVIL 😭😭😭😭

this show makes me realised the more selfish and egoistic act of humanity is to giving birth.
This is the only time I laughed at this stupid show
What the devil
Joseph is evil
Happy Father’s Day to all good fathers! 🎉
Maybe is just me but even after watching all of this i still thinks he is better than bojacks mom, even tho isnt something hard to do
Bojack is not a "good" person but I think he is still the best he could have grown up in that family context
In the show just when you think Bojack is an insufferable jerk, you see he could've been much worse.
"……..thaaaaaaannnnnkkkkkk YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!"

I read the title and thought I fell into an alternate dimension
Butterscotch Horseman or Clay Puppington for father of the year?
Good question
Pearls are for ladies

This is exactly like how my dad was.
in retrospect its quite clear why bojack ended up the way he did. hes basically his father with remorse
Man i really like this guy i think i'd like to fight politically for there to be more men like him now
Bojack acts so much like his dad it’s crazy He is pretty much a replica
No he doesn’t, rewatch the show.
His dad should more attentive and ask him if fine or not with him instead
Bojack deserve better childhood of his life
